With just a few modifications to the system proposed using a K bottle filled with N02, One could substitute a K bottle of 02 and an old fuel injector tapped into the gas tank, ignited by shorting oot the connections for the horn. Not much need for a horn with a rig like this which also is great for toasting one's own Jo-jo's when they are scarce.

I hope the OP doesn't find this solution complicated. It really isn't.

Why go to all the trouble? Just throw hand grenades at the perps and be done with it. Everyone ducks while you make your getaway so it's quick, and you just ride off into the sunset while everyone is on the ground or running for cover....... Anything can be had if you look hard enough......

I've got one of those mounted under the right front fairing. Few weeks ago, had a cager wander over into my lane without signaling or checking mirrors. Driver's side window was all the way down, and the driver's head was about 3 1/2 feet away and level with the horn when I gave a couple second blast. I've never seen a steering wheel move that fast.

I like the idea basically, but I am conservative by nature. Riding off into the sunset here is not a good idea. Salt water is very corrosive.

Installed it yesterday. Easy to install, just bent a bracket into a U shape to a frame bolt. Bought the wiring kit that is very nicely made and made the install very clean and fast. This horn is LOUD!!! The one thing I was a little concerned about is if it had any lag time. It blasts instantly.

The Stebel Nautilus Compact is THE horn to buy. But it does require that you rewire via a relay.

On the 6th gen, with a longer bolt you CAN use the stock mounting location, but it requires some effort. Not sure about the 5th gen.

I have purchased the genuine, brand name version and the generic knockoffs. They are IDENTICAL in appearance and construction. Sometimes the generics even have the Stebel logo.

I'd look at eBay item number 172330796233, which is NOT MY LISTING. I'll make nothing on the deal.

I agree, get the harness. It is very well-made and made install extremely fast and very clean.

Would you mind posting a picture or a description of where you mounted it? I have the ABS model 6th Gen so I'm thinking the left side fairing is occupied by the ABS module. Is there enough room under the right side fairing? Isn't there a fuse block under there? I'll order one if I think there's room to mount it somewhere and it seems you guy's have found it. So where's a good place to stick it? LOL

I mounted mine inside of the left fairing, sorry I did not take photos but there are a lot of them in this and other threads. Very similar to what tink did above your post but with the 1 piece unit. I think with the 2 piece you could mount the actual horn in the same spot as the OEM and it would be even louder.

No pix? I hope you don't get spanked.

Some bike guys I know from Seattle all riding Honda hotrods got into a contest about fixing the OEM horn sounds on their bikes. It became a contest. One guy a machinist gone over to be a MRI tech mounted three of those horns on his bike. He also was tech referee for the WRRMA.. The two others a printshop owner who legally changed his first name to "Hellfire" and the last guy is a gamecoder for Microsoft had two.

I thought the whole exercise was childish..Yeah right! These guys would park their bikes in front of a popular bike hangout that was on a busy arterial. They'd wait until they spotted some cager going a little too fast then they'd all let loose with the horns. I can't prove it but I'm sure there were skidmarks involved somewhere.
