190 rear tire users??

Have you used a 190 rear tire with good results?
Perhaps it will last longer than a 180?
I do a bit of commuting and flat spot the
180 at low mileage. Thinking bigger is better?

 

Awe... No.. I use the 190 on the CBR, first thoughts, there is no gains to be had that I feel worth it. just saying, each to their own. .

 

A wider tire shouldn't give longer life, especially commuting. There isn't any additional rubber in the middle.

 

I have run a few sets off my CBR track bike on the VFR. 190/55 and had no problem with them but When I buy tires for the VFR I run a 180.

 

True. I was thinking a wider foot print might slow the flattening no?

 

What tire are you currently running?

Might be time to switch it up for one with a different compound.

Maybe? I don't have experience with that tire first-hand.

Try a PR2 or a T30 EVO on the rear.

If you get the EVO, just make sure you get the GT-spec ... the "non" GT-spec seemed to have mediocre longevity for both Anne Marie and I both. I'm having much better success with the the GT-spec this time around. I don't honestly know if they changed the compound or not between the two of them, but the ODO doesn't lie.

 

Yes, way too soft for commuting. Get a sport touring tire. Any kind should beat an M3. The only one I ever put on a rear was gone, side to side, in 1787 miles. It gripped good.

 

Currently have Michelin Pilot Road 4, which seem very nice. Used Pirelli Angel GT on my Bandit and RSV4, and like it as well.

 

I would think for commuting a tire with a dual compound would be a huge advantage.

 

I use a 190/55 on my ZX7R to raise the rear a bit which quickens the steering. There is no advantage for commuting.
