    Hi Folks

Was washing my 2003 VFR800 V-Tec at weekend and after I pushed bike back into garage I noticed a little rubber standoff or grommet laying on the ground where I washed her. It has a small hole on one end and looks like it pushes/secures into a hole - possibly some type of rubber protector/spacer.

Anyone have any idea where this may have come from - it might not be from the bike at all and I cant see anything obvious. I had removed the seat also. Thanks for your help.

Ok so apparently its a bung that protects the fairing from hitting off the chassis/frame...

Exactly where. I don't recall seeing those on my 06 which is the same gen as the 03. Not to say that it isn't there. Where does it attach. The frame or the faring?

    VFRWorld wants to know.

Yeah I need to locate it myself, I will take a look tomorrow and if I find it I will take a pic and post here. I have a feeling its somewhere around the front/forks area!

Was there anybody else around who may had dropped it so that you would pull your hair out trying to work out where it goes. A few years ago a mate of mine pulled up on an old BMW he had just bought, he turned his back to take his helmet and jacket off so I tipped half a cup of old oil under his bike, lucky for me he didn't have a heart attack cause his face went white

It's on the tip of my tongue!

I noticed those on my trip this summer on my O6. I wanna say it was on the inside of fairing. I even wanna say I had one fall off and put it back on wherever it went. But I can't place it 100%.

I'd hang onto it. Next time you have her apart...or I have mine apart, we may find where it goes.

I have one of those in the middle of the seat, keeps me centered when cornering hard...
Is it from the centerstand to stop it hitting the frame? I'll check mine tonight.

Well, my oral fixation gets the best of me at times.
As soon as I can get my fairings removed, I'll have a looksee. Bolts are stuck and stripped right now.

I've seen similar things behind license plates.

Haha, hope you are all still breathing!!

    Yes, Rob, that's a place!!
I know for sure I've seen those bumpers behind my license plate. Seems they are there so the thing doesn't rattle itself crazy against the plastic.

    Is yours missing, Mr?

I had a look - my licence plate assembly is not the stock one , the previous owner had modified it a bit so I dont have the plastic (mudguard) housing and light .

Suggest you have a look at the miro fiche for your bike. You will find it on there.

The most sensible work back would be to try and remember where you picked it up and where in relation to that was the bike standing.
