We have plenty of threads about the things we don't like , can't stand, or really bothers us. So here's a thread to write about what you love, what gets you going, or even what really gets the Adrenaline pumping. So VFRW I ask. What really Turns Your Crank?

For me it's that oily spot that gives you a little wheelspin and wobble when making a turning launch onto that next road.
That sharp curve that sneaks up on you and gets you into a really good chicken strip chewing lean that you wouldn't normally be comfortable with.

I get a good chuckle when Hot Hatch junior thinks his cold air intake and 4inch exhaust tip is gonna give him enough power to try any vfr at a red-light.

Or better yet the look on Mr. Old model stock tall geared Corvettes face when he finally comes back by after getting spanked by an even older bike. Especially when only moments earlier he laughed at the rev of a V4.

The blank stare when someone mentions Hardleys new motors and you ask them how much power they make..........10% more?? How much is that.

Not really the best examples but it's the things that put a grin on my face.

Not bike related, but watching top fuel dragsters flying down the track. That is the most impressive display of horsepower there is. If you've never experienced in real life, you need to check it out. It's amazing what 11000 hp sounds and feels like. 330mph in under 4 secs is what turns my crank!

Wow didn't know came off like that, I rather figured half the place has me on permanent ignore. But hey if that's what turns your crank glad I could help.

I rather figured what amuses me as an entry level rider was probably pretty mundane even obnoxious to some. I really would rather hear what everyone else has to say.

I am not narcissistic, I really am that great. With my dime store bargain basement goods. And my ever so blind eye to the fact that no-one gives a rats :moonie:

Is that some new-fangled oxymoron Billy? I'll add that to airline food, military intelligence and Harley performance parts.

Love the idea of this thread, DeeDee!

So many things turn my crank!!

Other than people, speed has to be the #1.
Going fast, things that go fast, and especially if I am in or around super rumbly loud things going fast that rumble your core!

Turns your crank? How about rotates my prop. or in my case rotor blades, for some reason the smell of jet A during the start up of a turbine helicopter just does it for me.

    What really "Turns Your Crank"

The explosion of air mixed with fuel, ignited by an electrical pulse of energy arcing to ground. Aka: power stroke.

    Oh, you meant figuratively.

Cool early morning, not fully geared up....back the bike out of the garage...you know you spent more than a few hours making your latest upgrades and modifications....you know it's perfectly tuned....you turn the key and punch the switch..cranks for a second or two, then it fires....you can hear and smell that it's perfect, you crack a grin, knowing a lot of hard work went into it, perfectly prepared. You slick up your ear plugs and get them in, you finish gearing up, watching the temp on the dash, blip the throttle a couple times with your hand on the outlet of the exhaust....feels strong, you crack another grin....you throw a leg over and snap down the visor, snick it into first gear and roll off, everything feels good....you limp through town, keeping it a gear lower than usual, just to feel the pulses and hear the sound....you get to the beginning of your favorite road, tires are warm, everything on the dash checks out, then.....you crack it.....no more fucking around.....those first few corners settling into the mode...then the 5th or 6th corner, your peg touches down, you know you aren't pushing it very far, and you know you are on the mark...everything perfect. It's gonna be a great day.

Along the same idea, race jet skis, or better yet, v6 out board drag motors running AV gas with castor oil. Mm mm good(smelling)!

Not exactly flying down the track but for horsepower those bigass tractor pull rigs are pretty nifty.

Aboot the only thing worse than airline food is food on AMTRAC. You guys down under are lucky. I have heard that some of the Harley performance parts save lives. Training wheels come to mind.. A new fangled oxymoron would be "Giant Prawns."

You're good DeeBee. Not to worry.

I love it when I come out of a turn knowing I was comfortable enough to know I could have run it much quicker. At that stage, there's nothing to prove. The pegs are worn, the chicken strips are not there, and the revs are down but the bike is still railing. That is called, fun.

On the same quote as the now 2 above post..
Wow that leaves an awesome visual I wished were that good at tuning and riding.
Had some similar Zen moments off road on 2 strokes when firing up to head out from camp. Nothing smells quite like Klotz 2 stroke oil. Now I'm learning nothing compares to riding on smooth clean pavement when mind body and machine are as one.
Then I wake up and realize I am only cruising with the traffic I caught up to after 3 turns, gotta quit daydreaming with my chin on the tank bag. Lol hoping to maybe get some track time in , so far I haven't found that one really good but close road. You know the one, good pavement ,never a cage in sight......
