    Thanks Vern!

Yeah the Fuzeblocks are nice, and very affordable, just not programmable like I wanted with mine. The volt meter relay is so I can trigger the volt meter on with a momentary contact closure and get a direct reading off the battery, no key needed or parasitic drain. Since the circuit also gets triggered when the ignition is on, I also get a reading while riding. Basically the positive lead of the battery goes directly to the meter, the power controller triggers the relay and relay closes the ground connection to the meter. Another circuit is for the meters backlight. I already had the relay for the horn so I just wired that in too. It's a Sound Bomb mini.

Changing the amps are similar to changing the fuse on fuzeblock, same as whether it's switched or always live, it's just done via software. The delay on or off is also something I like and not available with the fuzeblock. However, the fuzeblock was on the top of the list until I found the PDM60. There's another unit I considered, the Neutrino, it's controllable in real time and has variable outputs too. This allows you to control heated grips with a full range of voltage and possibly lights too, but too much for my needs and a bit more money too. I was able to get Revzilla to match a price I found on Amazon so I was able to save some money on the PDM.

    I Brake for V4s

Sand Blast'd, Rebuilt and Painted some Master Cylinders.

Sight "glass" was crazed, so replaced the Plastic ones with 1mm Glass.

Tried out a Gold Ft Wheel,,.. looks OK.

Also had to Acid Rinse out the Lower Rad, was heavily Calcified.
Some Lead had also leached out of the Solder and was making Stalagmites.
Rolled a bunch of ball bearing balls in there, rolled it around, bust'd them off.
Next is the Carbs Bank, but getting late in the season.
Winter is Coming,,.. don't think I'll have it running this year.
But it means Ski Season is almost here.
Ride Bikes all Summer, Ski all Winter,,.. sounds good.

Erm there is already plenty of snow at the top of the valley here in the Alps. The snow is forecast to drop down to valley floor level by next Wednesday.

So it is definitely time to finish insulating my garage door, get the bikes ready for their winter slumber and drag the ski gear out of store.

Its a hard life but someone has to do it :)

    A State of Mind

    I just turn'd 60, so I'm officially "Old" too.
My Riding/Climbing buddy is in his 70s and still Ski Races,,.. can ski circles around me.
The Mtns are my Fountain of Youth, (if they don't kill ya,,..).
If ya likes riding bikes, then Skiing is a natural transfer.
And Way more Exercise (bulging eyeballs and pucker'd arshole don't count).
Most tourists see the Mtns from the bottom (hiway).
View is way better on top, and then in Winter - its Magical, can see forever, and then ya gets to Ski through it, at speed, anywhere ya want!,,..
Oops,,.. better not let Everyone know,,..

Cut an X into the old plastic one, stick in smaller screw driver, lever it out.
Clean off the old sealer, with a wood stick, wipe with Alchohol Q-Tip.
Used a Tooth Pick to apply Clear Silicone or RTV.
Press in new glass, Tooth Pick ON a little more RTV on the outside edge.
I haven't loaded it with DOT4 yet, probably next year now.

Initially I use too much glue and it Sploog'd into view too much, but not that noticeable.
If you search, you'll find my post where I give more Glass Source info.

Obtained rear and front Pit Bull stands. IMHO, the most practical and useful mod there is. High quality, well designed, safe. When I work on my bike, it will be the right way.

Rode the 6 Gen from Anaheim to Sacramento. Not a bad ride but it was all slab! Temps dropped into low 30's coming through Gorman but it was around 58-64 most of the way. Had a little fun playing chase the rabbit. A Honda Civic was moving along at a good clip so I tucked in behind him and we made some good progress. He eventually took a different road so I just kept keeping on. Pretty much 6th gear at 6k RPM most of the way, other than the fun with the Civic.

Short turn around trip, head back home on Sunday. May take a detour or two on the way home.

Was reading your post and wondering if you have heated grips on your VFR and if so what brand?

I have them on my FJR and want to put them on my 98 VFR.

I only use them every now and then but, when you need them ...you REALLY need them.

I do not, I do have good gear and seem to have a decent tolerance for cold. That being said, if the temps are this low for extended periods of time I do have heated gear that I can break out. I use Venture Heat gear, jacket, pants and glove liners. To be honest, I don't think the cold we get here in California seems to be as bitter as it gets elsewhere.

That has to be one of the toughest routes in the state. that and the next 200 miles north of Sacramento, right up there with Kansas

Put a little 90W on the chain that is pretty clean. Thought I would just try something different since I have yet to find anything I really like.

Yep, I agree, ride all summer and fall and winter too....; )

On the stand side, my wife got me a Abba Skylift last weekend, so I decided to reciprecate & fix the very rusty (internally) fuel tank on her CBR400 (NC29) - its 28 years old !.
With a totally empty tank I had filled it to the brim with Cider Vinagar (5%) in the tank for 6 days but wasn't overly impressed with the result so halfway through also ordered industrial strength hydrocloric acid - 36%. This arrived on Friday so gave me a plan 2
Preped my garden with the kit required & then spent an hour removing all the bits from inside the tank using a brush, vacuum pump & 4 litres of fuel.

Once the inside was clean & empty (but still rusty) I then added 1 litre of acid to 4 litres of tap water. Carefully not breathing in the fumes, this was put into the tank for 20ins - agitating it every couple minutes.

WOW - What a difference... Spotless - yippee..

    so back to work. lol

Empty out the acid - back into a container,
    fill up using the hosepipe,
    empty,
fill up with bicarbonate of soda mix,
    empty,
    fill up using the hosepipe,
    empty,
fill up with bicarbonate of soda mix,
    empty,
    fill up using the hosepipe,
blow dry with compressed air, & a vacuum pump to get the rest out...
    Totally fill with fuel..

This was not a 10 minute job. - lol

    & I love my stand !!
