Alvin to Oregon would be a haul for sure. Took some classes at Alvin JC once upon a time. Lived in Dickenson and League City.. Worked at MSC.

SBNW got started from an idea by some Canadian guys years ago. The called it Sportbike West. The RCMP finally shut it down. It was basically a 300 mile Poker Run for sportbikes.. SBNW is a little tamer.. Up until a couple of years ago, the rallye was held in Washington. The entire fairgrounds in Stevenson was used. SBNW is also sanctioned by the AMA who provide great insurance rates for short term events. Same deal with the "Isle of Vashon TT"

Never heard of it. Couldn't have been before my time because motorcycles had yet to be invented. So I searched it. Seems it was in Kelowna and the organizer stopped doing so in 2006. Police really don't have authority to shut such a gathering down. Just to deal with behaviour of individuals.

Kelowna is known for its rowdy party atmosphere in the summer. The odd riot has taken place. Other events such as the Kelowna Regatta, a city sponsored event, are no more because of this. Mob mentality can have a very detrimental effect on what otherwise may have been a great event.

Thats too bad. Had you been on duty you could have made your citation quota for a year in just a day.

Taking a quick look in Google, we find (I found, since you didn't look) Sportbike West is now another farkle humper. Clothes for the fashionista set maybe? Even the chicas in the ad have five o'clock shadow, keeping all things semi-equal.

Several reviews on the bike event too.

SBNW is over for the year. At that one, the cops are bribed with dry Tshirts to take home and wet Tshirt viewings worn by some of the women riders who attend. We are also non-denominational, and gluten free.

    ,
The event was markedly unrowdy as bike gigs go. I went to I think six of these and saw no drugs, no serious boozing or fights. A few assholes sure. One who had serious mouth was giving an RCMP in plain clothes a ration of shit when all the Mountie was asking was to hold it down. They were getting complaints from drivers who were getting passed in droves of bikers way over the ton. The event was well planned and executed overall. The venue was a horse ranch North of town.

The entire event was shut down. As ex military, when folks above both our pay grades talk to other folks above our pay grades especially about public safety, I am of the opinion that this is how things are done.

Individual officers of course do not have that sort of power. This event got kicked upstairs through the chain of command.

One of the guys I camped with one year was an ex-crewchief on AirForce One. (E9). As you can see by the vid clip, the pace was a little fast. Boys and girls will be boys and girls..

From what I can see on the video and pics etc... on the sign up webpage. It looks like a good time.

Guess at any gathering one has to look out for the loose cannons rolling around the deck. Most should wear a shirt that says "Instant azzhole, just add alcohol"

We are just looking for some "Normal" (boy is that a subjective term) people to hang out and ride some beautiful roads with.

This place is so nice you could really just strike out on your own and have a great time regardless of any potential riffraff.

I like the planned routes made by people who know the area. Shows me good ways to spend my limited time there seeing and doing all the cool stuff the area has to offer.

I guess I am kind of boring. I gave up drinking to excess a very long times ago and I have never needed it to have a good time. For me it is kind of tough to find motorcycle groups and events that don't include the requisite "drinking until obliterated" type of thing. I am also not much of a risk taker or dare devil rider See! Boring. I do like to meet people. I just like to remember what I have done the next day. I am looking forward to seeing everyone there and I am looking forward to hitting the road for a few days.

People seem to think I pour the stuff down my throat at R3. Truth is, I usually have a few wobbly pops then switch to water most times. In the past decade and half or so I have had rubber cheeks a few times but that is about it. Even if I wanted to, I don't think I would survive indulging the way I used to when I worked in the breweries

We didn't want to spend a bunch of cash on a trailer either so we got one of those utility trailers with the ramp and mounted two wheel chalks on it. Works great! You could also rent a utility trailer from Uhaul for hardly any money at all ... just a thought.

Best maybe if doing the trailerqueen boogie to arrange parking a mile or three off site. If too many dudes do this, a well named rallye could become something like a Sturgis SW.

Probably a good source for parking those rigs would be to cruise a local Harley forum. Those dudes are into the trailer in then ride in thing.

No, I am not going to trailer. I have nothing against it but the ride down will do me good. I'll take Friday for that and make a leisurely ride out of it. I need it. The Superhawk would be wicked fun though.

I'm not for or agin..but 10,000 harleydoods can't be all wrong! ;) The outskirts of Sturgis take the term trailerpark to a new level of meaning.

I have a ditch in front of my house (I live on a very rural dirt road) and I can back the truck into the ditch, lower the tail gate and have about 8 inches of space between it and the ground. It makes loading a snap. Unloading, without a ditch is a terror.

I have my room reservations so now I am hoping for good weather.

Always wanted a moat around my place with 2-3 of those bigass salties swimming around in it. I already have a Hoover.

My ditch has crawdads in it when it rains. Does that count?
