Have been teaching my son to work on the V4's again. We have a few for sure and a couple weeks ago picked up an 85 needing a lot of TLC. I am letting him do this one on his own. He can ask me questions but is doing all of the work. He is really doing pretty well with it all. Pretty proud of him not giving up with hard problems. I do have to say that we long ago ran out of room at our house. He got to ride my pristine 83 recently and like most of us he loved that sound. Something about a well running V4 that gives you a different feel. Of course the bike had been stored and when we got it out and fired it up it promptly smoked the reg/rec unit. LOL Thankfully we could just go over to the spares and get another one. The pictures just show 3 of the Interceptors upon benches in our garage. And then some of the herd! Just thought I would share. That's really awesome! I'm 22 now and have spent many many hours with my dad working on old bikes. Last summer I bought my first bike of my own which was an 86 VF500. It was the first Japanese bike my dad or I had ever worked on but with the help of some other forum members we got her running and we ride a couple times a week now. It was a super great bonding experience.

By now there should be some vids on the CannonBall run that started earlier this month ( 9/9 ??) Should be plenty of shots of guys working on "old" bikes.

That's awesome man. I wish my kids took an interest in working on bikes or cars. Mind look at it like it's a chore.

They'd rather be playing video games or watching TV.

That's awesome. My step sons 14 and 11 are impossible. The oldest is like ewww! grease, and the 11 yr old is afraid to do anything with me last time he let it slip to his real dad that we done anything together he got grounded and had all his fun stuff taken (his father doesn't do guy things, d*mn Qu#e*s) I guess I will have to wait until my son (5) gets another year or two older to enjoy one of the simple things in life.

You are an awesome dad! You don't happen to be looking to adopt a 42 year old who drinks too much scotch are you?

Not really, but if you drank to much single barrel bourbon we might have to talk. LOL

My boys weren't really interested in bikes till about 2 years ago. So it is a little different but still a great feeling.

DeeBee, it's none of my business and I don't have to care but what you and your 11 y. o. are going through completely pisses me off. I would probably enjoy giving that flower daddy a good country ass whipping. Some people earn it well. Meanwhile, back to the OP.....you should consider getting into motorcycles, LOL!

This is really awesome no matter the age of your kid!
Thanks for sharing!! Wanna 36-year-old daughter?? Rollin, we could be siblings!!

DeeBee...that's BS. Kid is missing out on an incredible opportunity with you. I know what it's like to grow up with no parents and learn on my own. Hope that changes for you guys.

Hey Anne, can we make that daughter in law? My son is 25! LOL It is sad that many people just aren't involved with their kids. Not willing to invest the time in them. I am very proud of all the things both my boys have already accomplished. FB_IMG_1470889145208 [935951].jpg

The HD dealer from Germany came over with three "oldies". The wrenching is just part of the gig. Three thousand miles on those old bikes is something to see.

I know the feeling since making a trip to WalMart and back just today on the mach 1 91..;)

Haha, I'd be an awesome daughter- in-law for sure!! ;)

I see sad stuff all the time at school...kids with lots of potential, but absent parents. One of my students yesterday reminded me his dad can't come to conferences because he is in jail until he turns 8 years old.

God in heaven! What age was he when he fathered the lad and is that why they jailed him?

    Sorry, could not resist.

I've seen first hand what happens when a father is no longer in a childs life. The situation was a little different but the result was the same - no father. It's really sad. Every kid handles it differently too. Some better than others.

One of my friends whose father passed away (and on Christmas Day) when we were young. He was a really great kid, good grades, good at sports, always kind and kept his nose out of trouble. Granted that he was much older than 5 when it happened.

He changed drastically when his father was no longer around. He became very troubled and was constantly into bad things. It was a total behavior shift. It was hard to see my friend go through this.

Even though I'm going through some changes in my life right now with my separation, I will always be physically present and a part of my children's life and be there for them.

I wonder what the kid did to get tossed in the slammer until he was eight. It seems silly to penalize the father. He could have more kids that could benefit from the conferences. Thank God most of us are not in Kansas.

Nice collection, you're lucky to have a son that shares your hobby. I don't think I would be too interested in mechanical stuff if it wasn't for my dad, even though he's not into bikes.
