I guess I'd call it crunchy. That Buell POS would shake your teeth out, but it pulls like crazy. If you wanted a wheelie machine, the Buell is a great choice, and the basakward brakes are so touchy it's hard NOT to do a stoppie. The seating position SUCKS. It leans the rider so far forward you have to look WAY up just to see the road.

Nozzle, You wouldn't edit a quote, would you?

I'd rather listen to chain noise than belt whine. I can fix a chain with imagination and limp home.
And for KC, the new Buell has a Rotax lump.

I put chain lube that I got from wally world on my chain. I thought it was going to be like oil but it was more like grease. And I haven't had to put any on in over a thousand miles.

I would own a buell. It sounds like a lot of fun. They look great too. But if I am going to have a collectors spirit I should have tons of money first.

Before we bought our house, my wife and I had a condo. One of our neighbors was the head of a large local Harley/Buell dealer. He had a Buell -- loud as heck when he would leave in the morning! But he also owned a -- wait for it -- Honda! ST1300 to be exact. & why did he buy it? the reliability. No, I am not joking. For regular commuting to work, he usually took the Honda, because of the reliability issues, he didn't want to rack up the miles on the Buell and have to fix it. He saved the buell for weekend cruises, and shop events. The Honda was for regular riding, and any time he rode with his son.

I think that we need more American bike makers. Not the chopper/cruisers but good ol fashion American muscle sportbike. I wouldn't mind a 2.5 lter V8 sport bike.

You got Fischer now, and Motocyz supposedly coming up...
real tough to compete with the Japanese on the sport bikes though, just ask Triumph.

Buell is using the old mill with upped cubes Aprillia used to buy for their sport bikes. (Aprillia is now making there own in how instead of buying from Rotax.) So the bike will finally be the real deal - ~ 120hp and 75ft lbs torque at the rear wheel.

    WARNING!

Radar has just picked up a cruise missle en route to tbones in Wisconsin.

The missle appears to have come from a rebel group located in the People's Communist Republic of New Jersey. The groups leader, who goes by the surname "KC 10 FE" released the following statement: "Anybody who praises Harley Davidson products will face the wrath of God as we rain fire upon them! Such praise will meet swift judgment...and crunchy peanut butter!"

Not exactly so per this exurpt from an interveiw w/ Erik Buell.

Kneeslider: Were you planning to use a Rotax engine from the beginning or was it one of several choices that you were considering? Has the Revolution engine ever been considered as an option for this or any new model?

Erik Buell: Well this is really a Buell engine not a Rotax, it was built for us by Rotax but this is completely our own engine built to our specification, it’s a clean design, not something that existed at all. Other than maybe the oil filter or something like that, this is totally new, it’s not used anywhere else.

The second time we had taken a run at a water cooled superbike it was actually going to be using the Revolution engine, it was in the mid ‘90s we started that project, which wound up being the V-Rod engine and what happened that time was the specifications we needed and the specifications Harley needed just couldn’t gel well enough and the Harley one took precedence but the specifications of what we needed were just too different.

Crazy Larry converted his 500 Interceptor to belt drive:

And he's currently converting his RC45 to belt drive as well, here's the prototype parts:

That's a Gates Polychain belt and a Buell rear sprocket machined/modified with an RC45 inner driven hub. And yes, it only has 2 bolts holding it on. (for now)

I wonder how this slipped by without me noticing? This is funny, I don't care who you are.

I can neither confirm nor deny the origin of said projectile.

    KC-10 FE out...
