Took Off both side cowls and inner-half-cowl (for a*replacement of a*leaky water pump).

    - Is there a problem driving (below 65 mph) a naked uncovered VFR800 ?
    - Can rain cause short circuits... to revealed electricity (wires and connectors) ?

I'd be concerned about your radiators and / or other parts taking damage from pebbles and stuff.

And yes, your connectors would all be exposed further to the elements. You'd want to take proper precautions to protect these for the additional exposure. The connectors are already shit on this bikes and should be replaced.

Is there a reason you can't simply put the fairings back on? It's only about 6 screws per side.

Nothing wrong with that, but proper measures need to be taken, that's all.

Like Jeff said, I'd more concerned about the radiators. And yes, rain causes problems, but some of us have ridden in torrential rain before and our bikes still run.
Since your bike is already apart, I'd clean as many connectors as I can with contact cleaner and use dielectric grease after.
Dielectric discussion and disagreements in 3......2......

I like the naked look and wouldn't be overly concerned about it.

Hey Tink, are your wheels gloss black or semi gloss. I've just aquired 5th gen that I'm going to part out, but was thinking I'd powder coat the wheels gloss black and see which I like better. My current wheels are semi gloss but think they'd look better gloss black.

    Poop.

I think it's a semi gloss but I'm really not sure. Or a mostly gloss. :)

Trying to think if I have a coupon left from the build....

You didn't ask me, but mine are gloss and it looks great. Problem is, it takes two weeks for theme to look flat black. ymmv.

Other than cooling efficiency, I can't see why not. I rode around for a long time on a 1st gen with no fairings, kinda goofy looking, but what the hay. I say go for it.

I agree. If the damned bicycle riders can do it and some of the harleydoodchicas can do it, why should we be left oot? It may be ugly but this is America!

As long as the plastic you use wont melt with the heat, you are fine.
