I posted in chat that my issues, on both brand new HP laptops, did not surface until I had used the computers for several hours. It is also just an issue with this site. VFRdiscussion works fine as do the other sites I use.

These computers are supposed to be plug and play. I just plugged it in, turned it on and followed their set up procedures. This included getting all the new updates for Windows 10 which took well lover 6 hours to download and install.

A couple days ago rjgti mentioned using comparability mode but I am not computer savvy and haven't a fucking clue what that means. But I would have thought that the standard start up instructions would have directed me that way.

I have sent off a message to Michael to see if he can find out anything from vBulletin about this. Failing that, I guess I will pack this computer up and go back once again to the store that sold me this computer. If there is nothing wrong with the computer, then I would think they have some sort of obligation to show me what it is I am doing wrong if in fact I am doing something wrong. I just don't know.

I can't help but wonder though, maybe the problem is because the laptop is wifi and this computer I am working on right now with 8.1 is hard wired. Maybe I will hard wire the laptop and see what happens then. Thing is though, my old notebook with Windows 7 worked fine on wifi. It is just that that thing is just plain worn out. If it does fire up, it is slower than what the early 90's dial-up was like.

I spent seriously over 6 hours on the phone with my service provider where they actually had control over my computer and they could not come up with any solution to the problem. They had no issues when they accessed VFRW on their computers. But I don[t know what system they were ruining, and like I said, I could get a few hours out of it before the problem surfaced. If I cleared the browsing history and cookies, it would work fine for a few hours again then start with the problems again.

I wished I could go back to using Windows 97. At least they had good music in their advertising.

A few months ago I downloaded Win10 onto a Win7 tower I have. Problems arose with some drivers for separate scanner and printer. Norcalboy comes back with some shit like letting a little software throw me. Yeah right asshole, 50 million lines of code.

Best bet rather than paying attention to egocentric anomalies like Norcalboy, is to buy a book and RTFM..

So Randy, make me an offer on my VIC20...;)

    Randy,

What browser are you using that will not all you to view VFRWorld? I.E. I am guessing. Have you tried downloading the chrome browser and opening it up with that? Also, VFRD runs IPS, and VFRW runs vbulletin.

You could try doing a total uninstall and reinstall of Windows. For the record, I have Windows 10 on two machines and they both work seemlessly with Vbulletin and VFRW.

On both of these new laptops, I started by using IE Edge. That is the default for W10. On the first laptop, I also installed IE, Chrome, and Firefox. Each of these browsers resulted in issued with this forum. When I took that laptop back and got this new one, I did not download any other browser other than that which was default, IE Edge. Still the problem persisted for a few days

But alas, today, I have been on this laptop since 08:00 my time. It is 15:46 now, and the issue has not surfaced today. I have done nothing since yesterday when the problem existed, to this computer. But so far the problem seems to have gone away....so far. I have no idea what is going on here, but as long as it does not revert back to the issue, I am just going to stick with IE Edge browser.

The laptops came with McAfee 30 day trial so yes, I am running antivirus, I suspect malware as well. The W!0 by default is using Internet Explorer Edge as per your link. On the first computer, I was not using Edge but just IE, Chrome and Firefox. This time I used just IE Edge but the problem persisted at least until today.

In all the cases stated, I could clear the history and cookies and everything would work fine for a few hours but the problem came back.

If you know how to get to the old fashion command prompt (remember DOS?), then we can run a test.

Use your new computer until it stops opening VFRW.

Go to the command prompt, at the blinking cursor type ping vfrworld.com
(Ignore the fact I am using a Mac)
If DNS is working, you should get the results above.

If it times out, then ping 66.180.204.211

    Post the results.

That is well beyond my scope of capabilities. Ping? Those are golf clubs aren't they? If it come to this, Best Buy will be having their paid people looking into this computer and they can figure out what is wrong. But the laptop worked fine all day. Presently on the desk top MS8.1

No problem, I believe it is a software program is blocking the site for some reason.
