The guy isn't making excuses, he just wants some arm-stretching fun.

There are Gods and there are us mere mortals who miss our farkles.

This of course does not include the one Harley I bought once upon a time in a weak moment.

Those things are beautiful! I was walking through a local dealership today to the parts department and I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw this thing - I had to take some pics and drool on it LOL. But since the OP is from Germany I would suggest he also look at the BMW S1000R with the detuned RR engine.

Certainly nothing wrong with that. I'll admit to exceeding the speed limit on beastly bikes including my VFR(s). I guess I got it out of my system.

It's hard to change. Finding something you'll love as much or more as your current ride is a very personal decision. I have loved many different types of bikes and each seemed to fit their purpose at the time. A Super hawk was my backup during much of my VFR ownership. That was eventually swapped for a Super Duke and I found the scratch for my itch. I consolidated the VFR and SD into a SMT and lust for no other. Wheelies, touring, the last time I rode my VFR to its new owner I cursed every second. I had moved on and hated it.

You've got to be joking. The extras on that bike are worth north of $6,000. The bike itself stock would be worth 4-5.

No way. I actually have a 06 CBR 1000 rr track bike set up very similar and belong to a private club of CBR 1000 track day riders and have seen a long history of what these bikes set up in almost every conceivable combination. Would someone buy that bike for that price? Sure there is a buyer out there but not for someone who has done their research. Especially on the year of that bike. You never get your money back from mods............ If you parted it out and put it back to stock you could get that much money.

first rule of buying a used car or bike: modifications generally do not increase the value. if it's worth more to you because you can pull them off and sell them, that's one thing, but that doesn't mean it's a good buy or that it's worth your time and effort. it's also worth noting that on most of these sites the asking price is usually 10-20% higher than what they will actually take.

Completely agree with this, whatever you get, don't sell the VFR!

I bought a CBR600RR earlier this year for street and track duty. After riding it almost exclusively for about a month, going back to the VFR was so nice. Yes the CBR is fast and crazy fun, but I missed the low end torque and comfort of my viffer. The CBR is now race / track only, which is for the most part enough to satisfy my need for speed.
