    This thread is priceless.

I can never forget sitting on the bench at The Gap store and a gaggle of at least 25 Harley's were staging up in the parking lot to go slay the dragon. They were all revving up their engines making as much noise as possible. One would have thought they were going to go out and break the sound barrier. They did, I could barely stand it, LOL!! Vroom, Vrooom, off we go at 28 mph slaying the tail!!!

You need to create every advantage you can nowadays to avoid being run over, years ago motorcycles were the only vehicles with the headlight on all the time and people noticed us, now almost every vehicle made comes with daytime running lights. When you have a long whip from IronBraid hanging from your lever blowing in the breeze you attract attention and catch the eye of other drivers.

I was sitting in traffic today and I glanced over at the dresser Harley glide and noticed how small the engine actually is compared to the overall bike. I was thinking, in cars we revere the V8. We are in awe of the V10 but in American motorcycles we are satisfied with a twin?

Just when you thought you have seen it all. A guy at work bought a 2017 Roadster. He had put 20 miles on it and parked it. Locked the forks and came back a short time later. Started it up and took off with the forks still locked and immediately fell over. I did not know you could start a bike with the forks locked. Is this a Harley thing or was it just a cover story? Anyway he now has some nice scratches and bent brake lever. I know my old RD 350 this could be done as the forks had a key lock on the fork itself.

Very Interesting, last night on the Discovery channel they had a 3 part series all in one night, Harley and the Davidsons. It was all right as far as TV goes. Interesting was the part about Ford. then of all things the Japanese.

I forgot about that. I wanted to see it out of "professional curiosity". Not sure if anyone caught the show on AMC, 'Ride. With Norman Redus' (AKA Daryl from The Walking Dead). I was decent but I felt it wasn't edited to well and was missing something but it did paint motorcyclist in a good light.

Harley-Davidson is laying off about 200 workers at its York manufacturing plant. Sales for the year were going to be down, but the latest announcement that it is laying off about 200 workers suggests things are going to be even worse than expected. Harley's second-quarter earnings were a disappointment because it reduced the company's shipment forecast by about 5,000 bikes. They said that they would ship between 269,000 and 274,000 motorcycles for 2016, it now said it expected to ship only 264,000 to 269,000 bikes worldwide. This is troubling for the monolithic company because while Yamaha has Watercraft and all the major Japanese brands have ATVs and UTVs Harley has only big bikes and only cruisers and high end touring bikes at that. Harley just doesn't do affordable bikes and they sure have not diversified to spread the risk in a market down turn. The good news is they have big t-shirt sales to sustain them.

First, I don't hate Harley Davidson. I just cant understand their obsession with dated, very dated technology.

For $37,500 you can have 2" of shock travel on EMULSION shocks with rebound controlled on one side. REALLY? Did I read that right???

Sign me up!!! Cuz I really want to pay through the ass for last century's tech!!!

IMO wearing that shirt should be mandatory for some of the harleydoodchicas who are shirtless at Sturgis.. If I ever go again I'll have my own Tshirt that says," Don't show me your tits". I hope it will pass censorship for not being entirely PC around the portapottys.

I'm with Lint... Crazy what folks pay or old tech. How do they pull that off? Well they're sorta not. But yet, like yesterdays jaunt, seemed like every third bike on the road is an HD go figure. Nothing new just keep em rolling. I'd love to see an American company produce a bike that has build quality like Ducati, Honda, Yamaha, Aprilia, BMW, etc. all wrapped in one. at a price that makes sense. The Modus is close, saw one the other day quit the bike. that motor? Hmmm. yet? the sticker shock. Really, come on now.

I actually like Harleys. When I would cruise in my old Road King I had a blast. It was NOT fast and handled even worse but I did not buy it to scrape floor boards or to cruise at 130 all day. I just loved to ride it. One thing I simply cannot understand is why on earth are they so expensive. I don't get it. Buddy picked up a 2016 Tri Glide. Lets just say i could have bought a new VFR and a used Jeep JKU for the same amount he plunked down. SMH.

It's simple really, if Harley's were made anywhere else in the world, no one would buy them.
