Hi All,
I brought home an '84 VF1000 yesterday.
Bike is in good shape, but I fear the cams are worn.
27k miles on it and never had the top end oiling mod performed.

Does anyone make after market cams, springs and or valves for this model?
And I found Dale Walker's top end oiling kit, are there any others out there?
Who makes a seat replacement?
And are there any jet kits out there for this engine.

Hi Jack - I am not familar with Walker's kit, but there is at least 1 other kit to consider - the DRP kit. Dave Dodge makes it, and they are avail (I think exclusively) via Classic Cycles on ebay. search for DRP oil mod kit. http://stores.ebay.com/Classic-Cycle-Parts

make sure that whatever you get covers all cylinders. I bought a DRP recently, and have just installed it on a VF700 2 wks ago (but not ridden on it yet)

 

Thanks, I found an oil kit from
Daugherty Motorsports for $150.
Does anyone have experience with this kit?

I live fairly close to Atlanta and Traxxion. I just learned that they are a distributor for Bitubo, who still makes a shock for this bike.
Any familiarity with this shock?

Anything from Dougherty is good... He is a member of this board....

The CAM wear issue was really hit or miss... I had an 85 700 that never had the issue and I sold it with 23,000 miles on her... Some of the old SAB/MAG forums stated that the Oiling issues were sporatic on many of the bikes...Some had it some did'nt... You may have purchased one that did'nnt have it...

Don't get me wrong though it's still a cool mod to do though....
