    Hi,

I searched the forum for some details but wasn't able able I find what I was looking for. There are a lot of posts here on the various throttle locks but not a lot on the installion.

I have a 2014 VFR deluxe and would like to install a throttle lock. I bought a NEP but after getting it I realized it won't fit without moving the hand grip about 1/8" so I started looking at the Kaoko bar end but after removing the stock bar end it looks like there is a core that won't come out.

Does anyone know or have detail on removing the core? Is it possible to remove it without removing the hand grip? I'm hesitant to mess with the grip because they are heated and I don't want to inadvertently wreck something trying to move or remove the grip.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks!

Are you talking about the bar weight that is inside the bar?

I swapped the bar cores out of my 5th gen into 6th gen bars a few days ago. The setup in the 2014 looks identical, the long core has a couple of rubber donuts that sit in it's grooves, plus a thin metal tube at the outer end. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/sear...FR800FD+2AC/HANDLEBAR+++TOP+BRIDGE/parts.html

If you can, pluck out the thin metal collar first, then get a washer a bit larger than the bar and a 6mm bolt. Put the bolt through the washer then into the bar core and tighten down, this should start to extract the core, and you can pry between the washer and the bar end with a screwdriver to move it along and out. Once you get it started the first few mm, it should get easier.

You might need to slide the throttle tube inwards along the bar to get enough clearance, and to do that you will need to remove the brake master temporarily, then loosen the screws that hold the throttle assembly on the bar. I had to slacken the throttle cable as well. There is a peg in the underside of the switchblock that engages with a hole in the bar, you need to drop the lower part of the switchblock enough to get the peg free so you can slide the throttle assembly along.
