i am now the ripe old age of 53 ( where did the years go ??:confusion:) and had bikes since 17, last bike was a blackbird some years ago now, so changed jobs & have a load of free time , time for a new bike ( to me anyway) so came across this 1999 vfr , cracking condition
just going to be used for kicking about locally but know it will go the distance if i want

mot till dec, all previous mots
    32k
    front tyre done 500 miles/rear 1000
bought it off a bloke who was 60 years of age, he bought it off his brother in law 3 years ago he was the second owner
    hagon shocker ( nearly £300 , 11 months ago)
    hugger
    good service history
    all receipts
    rear seat cowl
    stainless steel downpipes
    new rectifier
this bike is unmarked & perfect condition
£1250 that will do me nicely
    very happy

its going in the garage next week as the only problem i have is a tiny oil leak somewhere, ( if i leave it for 2 days there is about quarter of a teaspoon on the deck, but its there !)

just ordered a rack & top box for the wife to lean on & some clear indicator lenses, happy days !!:cool-new:

Hello and Welcome to the MadHouse:welcome:

Kudos for adding a photo with your first post - your VFR will go down well here - especially at that price.

When you get a chance maybe update your forum profile (Forum Actions/Edit Profile) to include the specs of your bike and an approximate location - that way the information will appear automatically alongside all your posts and if you need help with an issue you may find someone living nearby will be willing to swing by and offer advice especially if you have a well stocked beer fridge:drink:.

With proper maintenance these bikes will handle high mileages and commuting use in all conditions, just keep up the oil and filter changes. As it sounds like you now have some spare time you may want to catch up with the Ulysses-Club GB if you want folks to ride with on longer trips around the UK and continent. You will find VFRs are brilliant for longer trips and once you have the luggage carrier fitted, weekend trips should be a breeze especially if you learn to travel light. There are plenty of great places to check out in the UK and loads more just a short ferry ride away.

    Take care

I know, I hate it, I thought getting my 98 in non-running ratbike condition for $900 was a decent score but people are paying not much more than that for really nice examples. :(

Reading around the forums, 5th gens are getting around the age where a good bit of maintenance is pulling and replacing all the fluid transport hoses (coolant, etc). Maybe schedule a day where you open up the bike to do a couple mods and throw on the hoses too.

Good specimen. I would definitely find that oil leak. VFR's aren't known for leaking.

So, how'd he get a stainless exhaust? If it's aftermarket most guys replace the muffler.....
