    I bought a carbon 2 bos here, never sold anything here,. My kittens aren't for sale to vfr riders or BB. Amsoil is good stuff-but a bit to pricy for me.

    I'm familiar with oil analysis. I maintain and repair over 30 pieces of heavy equipment and 6 Kenworth's.
    It's hard enough to do the scheduled maintenance. I don't have any desire to do oil sampling. I'm happy sticking to factory maintenance intervals and have never lost an engine due to lubrication. Did have one issue on a cam but the truck had over 400,000 miles on it and inframes are recommended at 500,000.

    Each truck get's serviced every 15,000 per cat recommendations. Oil cost per truck is $500 per year. Being able to extend services to say, 30,000 would save $1500 a year on oil for all the trucks. It's just not worth the hassle and peace of mind that the oil is being dumped on a regular basis. One note, it was common for a lot of companies to change oil at 10,000 miles. This changed during the recession when we switched to the factory intervals because money was tight, and sometimes non-existent.

    We use Delo 400 LE 15w-40

    I agree 100%, sampling is for the big boys with huge engines and high labor costs in changing oil.

    Good point about labor costs. I didn't include that. But it's not much, full service including checking all fluids and drivelines etc is about $200 a truck. It's considerably more for the equipment because of travel time to the sites and mileage on the service truck. Every penny counts. That's why I know paper towels cost 2 cents verses oil diapers at 50 cents. :greedy_dollars:

    I've used mobil 1, 10 bucks a quart, castrol, 6-8 bucks a quart and rotella t-6, 20 bucks a gallon. I noticed no difference, then I change my oil every 3-4 thousand miles. Bike shifts seemed a little smoother with the castrol, but that might be in my mind.

    I did run t6 once and it didn't shift as well as Castrol rt which is the lowest priced full syn motorcycle oil and rated m2 the highest.

    Was talking to a friend the other day what he thinks of T 6 as a motorcycle oil. He knows more than anyone I know about everything 2 wheeled. The one thing that stood out was how he said most people forget that most bikes have wet cclutches and the oil gets a constanty macerated, between gears and clutch plates at high speed and that is a very hard thing to test as to how much that adds to the demands of oil. Speaking from a racing point of view and higher performance engines, that he would not run T6. In cruisers and lower rpm motors sure. Higher compression, smaller tolerance engines with wet clutches run a better oil. He too said that cold start up protection is very important on the performance engines. Just another opinion in the endless debate.

    I'm sure it will work fine Jeff. But if your flogging an engine I would run other. Even oils that don't rank in the top tier of oils are excellent.

    If you look at the list in the Blog post, it actually rates higher than the Pro Honda Oil.

    156. 5W40 SHELL ROTELLA T6 Diesel Oil, synthetic, API CJ-4, CI-4 Plus, CI-4, CH-4, SM, SL = 67,804 psi

    158. 10W30 ProHonda HP4S, 4 Stroke Motorcycle Oil, API SJ, synthetic = 66,852 psi


    I think what matters more here is that all of us are at least cognizant that changing the oil and oil filter regularly is really important. With so many different brands, types and prices, we all seem to have chosen one that works for our particular situation, whether it be cost, convenience or whatever reason. But regardless of any of this I'm pretty sure we will ALL AGREE that SOW is an idiot, even if he chose the supposedly better oil! :wink:

    Agreed on all accounts. FWIW though... no clutch slippage on the T6. Loaded down hammering the throttle or pulling a wheelie with my fat ass on the seat. Lolzzz

    I've been using Rotella in all my MX bikes since 2004. Every time my mechanic has opened up my motors for rebuilds, he's amazed. Very little wear and no issues. he loves working on my bikes. I use Rotella in all my bikes AND my truck. Best bang for the buck.
