I am a tank bag kind of guy. I can't swing my leg high enough to clear a tail bag in normal operation. But you are right most manufactures are going for a rounded off and pretty look there too. I need a bag that you can put a human head in and still have room for a drink and a rains suit!

Parked Storm in the garage today .... she deserved a break today after all the miles we put on over the past 4-5 days. That, and there's a 70% chance of severe thunderstorm today, and my ass needs a rest. Lolzzzz

If it's not storming when I get home tonight, she'll get a good wash and an oil change that is now overdue.

As for my trip ... I scooted down I-29 and ended up in Sioux Falls, SD my first night, then cut across the I-90 to Holmen, WI. We made camp there for a few days, checked out the scene of my accident from last year, and then scooted up the Mississippi River to Minneapolis.

Took in the MoA and met a local friend for dinner at Bubba Gump's before walking around the mall some more. The next morning it was back to Winnipeg.

The trip was way too short. I could have used several more days ....

You can always stand on the peg and swing your leg over.

Had a good result this morning on my RVF...

This bike has appalling brakes - on the rear putting out your hand into the air achieved the same result.. !

However after removing the caliper - but still connected, I noticed a stone in between the pads - not touching the disc... Thats why the pedal was solid but braking was useless !!!

I've now removed the stone - lol, & will push the pistons out a little to give them a little clean - although they look mint.... & the pads are hardly worn...

    Phew...

Amazing how stones manage to wedge themselves in impossible locations like that. I wonder how many years it has been jammed in your calliper.

I usually go for the high kick approach. I haven't managed to kick my bike over from the raw power yet, but i am careful.

I could see how such fine physical specimens would scare you off, so here is a less impressive man doing it. If he can do this, you can too ;)

I started test fitting my CBR600F4 forks with my 5th gen wheel, guard and 6th gen triples. I was concerned whether the fork leg spacing was the same and how that would affect the axle/spacers. What I found is that the inner edge of the forks is identical at 182mm but the distance from the inside of the brake mount to the disc surface was offset by 0.8mm to the left. I have always found my 5th gen likes to pull slightly to the right hands-free, now I know why. I've decided to try the new forks as is and see if the result is similar. Realignment in this case is a simple matter of grinding some material off the right spacer if needed.

I also found the lower mounts on the 5th guard line up perfectly with F4i mounts, and I riveted some small alloy plates to the guard to meet up with the mounts behind the fork leg.

Next up, a day in the garage to fit all the parts on the bike

Installed new brake pads last night on the 09 and rode it today to make sure all is good. On the way home I saw the aftermath of a rear end collision. Car that smacked the back end was in the #1 lane perpendicular to the flow of traffic. Snuck around him in the carpool lane as all the "looky loos" were slowing down to get a glimpse.

I have been on travel for the last month. So no riding . Got the girl uncovered today, gave a fresh wipe down and installed an awesome VFRworld decal sent by RVFR (Thanks) and a new set of levers. Looks awesome. Just need to get out and test the new levers. [IMG]

I let a guy take my 6th gen for a test ride while I held a packet of cash. He liked the bike (he just sold a FJR1200 and wanted to down size) but the reach to the bar and the foot peg position kind of cramped him up. He said he got a cramp in his leg. No sale but better luck next time.

Oh. . .I actually washed some of the dirt off of it. I guess I shouldn't have bothered.

My RVF (& me) was on the TV yesterday & can be seen here -

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-36982748

It was a protest & they were blocking the motorway traffic at Heathrow Airport. I filtered all the way to the front & the noise of the RVF exhaust downed out their chanting - It was funny for at least 30 seconds as I left the engine running until a Police Officer stood in front of me & gave me the universal 'are you serious' look... I turned it off then - lol

    BTW - I'm at 16 seconds.....

However, the cops liked me so I was let through after 10 mins (1st - lol) if I 'got off the bike & pushed' it around the protesters....
I left it in 1st for the next 200 yards -lol

I had the terror of being a pedestrian in London traffic years ago. I would think that a normal UK driver would have just run the protestors down.
