Well that makes me feel quite virtuous, as I removed and discarded my last ever K&N oil filter on my VTR1000F over the weekend. Won't be making that mistake again.

Ya, all K+N had to do to fix the problem is make a stronger steel shell-maybe extra strong where the nut is, with info on torque settings
Over all K+N is a better company then most. All this oil change stuff- I change mine with a thicker mix of oil. Those Honda fasteners suk dog doo-half my time spent not getting them on perfect, my panels are wearing out. Where can I get some good fasteners that actually work?:eek:ffended::eek:ffended::smash:

As much as I think you are a fucking idiot, I don't like to see someone getting hosed on Honda's faring clips. So here's what I use.

It is the M6 size you want. They are easier to use and more durable. The do fit more snug that OEM but that is a good thing. There are others out there as well. Here in Canada, what you pay for three OEM clips from the dealer, will get me a package of 10 from Bolt Fasteners, shipping paid to Sumas Washington where I have a mail box. I think they come in packages of 10. I just ordered a couple packages. Someone with a VFR is often around my place who needs a clip or two.

Speaking of shitty clips. Those OEM clips that hold the battery cover on and the matching one on the other side of the bike they are not as bad as the faring clips, but they are kinda shitty too. Anyone here come up with a solution to those? They are almost $7.00 each here. Just ordered four. I have two that are worn out and have broken tabs and figure the other two are about to go so ordered enough to replace them all.

Ok, I try these m6 clips, I tried aftermarket stuff-and it too failed. Buts these look like they may work. My sliders R+B are the best panel fastener there is. Be nice to poor wolfee.

Is that why my battery cover is missing on the 6th gen?

Shop for clips and fasteners any kind. A true story that didn't begin on a dark and stormy night.

There's a chunk of plastic weather strip on my car held in with some ABS clips. It takes seven clips to hold it. I pop one oot of the other side of the car and take it to my local friendly GM dealer. Five pesos a pop. Next stop my local friendly mega auto parts store where the same clips are three for five pesos. I need six but things are better than at the GM dealer. Next stop my local friendly NAPA store where the guy hands me the catalog and the price sheet and I find the same clips for .50 centavos a pop. Same clips? Yep.

Actually, that's what I am using while waiting for my order to come in. The down side to zap straps are that you can't re & re out in the field unless you carry a supply of those with you.

I have done that a couple times when doing an oil change. I have a plastic turkey baster with a piece of rubber surgical hose attached with silicon to suck out the extra oil and put it back into the oil can. It is still clean enough at that point to use later. But as long as your level is between the two lines you are fine.
