I'm scheduled to receive mine in the next couple of weeks and was wondering if there was any interest in me making an impressions / review post when it arrives or if it's already been beat to death before I started coming on this forum.

For those that haven't seen it, it has a rear view camera and Bluetooth connectivity for communication and cell phone paring for GPS and music streaming. The information is presented to the rider in the form of a HUD inside the helmet and is accessible via voice commands.

To be honest there has been a lot of talk and hoopla about it but no "real world" review. After you get a chance to ride with it, please post up your thoughts and opinions.

As long as someone doesn't beat me to it I'll definitely contribute.

If anyone had any specific wonderings in it, please make mention of it and I'll do my best to answer after it arrives.

Excited for you, but no thanks .... I don't want to be locked into a single helmet.

This is the one I'm waiting on ... http://www.ridenuviz.com/

Nuviz looks awesome, but they just don't have the oomph. They've been around longer than skully, haven't they?

No idea ... all I know is that I don't want to dole out a bunch of money on a helmet that may or may not fit me, or that I may or may not like. I want a system that I can put on any helmet.

I think a deployable system into any helmet would be the way things eventually go. Any idea when it's supposed to be released or if there's an early backer program?

It's not really relevant to motorcycles, but I'm expecting the car version of what you described this month as well.

Maybe I'll put a write up for this in the anything goes section. Been waiting a couple years for this now.

Like all of these other crowd funding products, its been delayed continually. They hired a bunch of engineers and staff and delayed the initial launch. I hope its soon..

I personally think the ar is going to be overrated and overpriced.

There is pretty much no question that it is overrated or overpriced: it is both. The Skully is bleeding edge technology (for helmets, the tech itself is old), and thus comes at a premium that hasn't yet scaled, and thus isn't a very good deal. The point of something like Skully is to test the waters with those that have money to burn and are early adopters. If the helmet is cool, and the features useful and/or fun, then the technology will scale, get cheaper, others will build it into their helmets, competition will happen, and eventually it will cost ~$800.

Personally I think it's a cool idea, but dropping $500 on an Arai every 5 years is painful enough for me as it is. The extra cost for something like a Skully is just money I'd rather dump into the bike.

I think a 200 dollar lid is painful so anything over 300 I don't even look at

Still waiting on the helmet, but the free jacket I won from skully arrived today, Alpinestars JAWS. Hopefully the helmet arrives soon after! IMG_1495.jpg

It seems the primary source for this scoop is the guy who got fired. I sure hope this is just an ousted tech CEO throwing shade!
