On the way back to the office, I saw a guy in full tuck, with his feet on the rear foot pegs. He was flyin' at 60 mph, on the freeway. Does anybody else see this and laugh.
Yep, I see it hear and there. I guess that only really experienced riders can do that, and I hear it gives you much better reaction time to the foot controls and increases the handling sharpness of the bike. Just remember, next time you see that, take notice and admire the many skills this person has. Truly amazing.....
I sometimes stretch out my legs on longer rides.... imiagine on some of those bikes where you feel like your humping your football shapped tank stretching out may just be more comfortable?
Ditto. When I come up on any thing near congestion, the feet go back to where they belong. Is it really any different that flying down the hwy at excessive speeds, or cat walking along the road? How about riding with one hand? How many here have put their bikes down due to going into a corner too hot, or hit sand or gravel in a corner. Why did this happen? Not your fault you say? Who's fault is it? Acceptable risks differ from person to person I guess.
Yeah, when i see riders doing that, i all ways think it just shows there lack of riding experience, or when they take off from a stop and drag there feet for a hundred feet ? all that tells me is they need new shoes .
Dragging the feet is the one that gets me laughing. nothing suggests confidence like dragging your feet through the intersection... Following a friend the other day and was having a good laugh at watching him struggle for about 5 mins to put down the right rear peg with his foot, he was missing it by about 5 inches. Finally gets it down and goes in for the full tuck and I laughed even harder. My friend is a great guy that doesn't read this site, so.... he has to be at least 350 lbs and 5'9. He just got himself a Suzuki V-Strom ( the liter bike as he calls it). The combination of all these things do not make for a good looking high speed tuck. I laughed a lot.
Wasn't me this time.... of all the newb mistakes I have made and will continue to make, I am hoping thread ressurection will be the least deadly.
