I just bought an '06 vfr800. I noticed there's an outlet on my inner cowling near the left handlebar.
Is that stock or aftermarket? And is stock... Is it for heated accessories or for charging battery?

Also one small detail- when I activate left signal I can see the flashing arrow on dash. When I activate right signal- arrow is partially blocked by dash border. Wondering if that's normal or if something is shifted and off?

    Thanks in advanced !

Pictures please! There are no stock outlets that I know of, so it must be aftermarket. Its for cell phone or GPS charging usually. Does your bike have a phone or GPS mount?
You should be able to see all factory information on the display. Sounds like something is off.

Welcome to the forum and Post some pictures of your bike and question areas.

That is Powerlet 12v outlet. Good stuff...!
You do need special plug if you like to run GPS, pump or heated gears.

That is a little plug, I just picked up a waterproof lighter socket to install on mins as soon as I get a chance. Just have to find the right spot to install it. It will fit flush like yours does.

If you go to wiremybike.com there is a section for Powerlet products. You should be able to find plugs and adapters for this outlet. I have one that goes from a Powerlet plug to a cigarette adapter and a 'Y' cable that has a Powerlet and cigarette port so I can run also use a cigarette plug to USB adapter. This allows me to power my phone and my radar detector similtaneously.

I ride a 16 BMW r1200 and noticed the battery charger input looks the same... Is there a quick way of determining "power-in" versus "power-out"?

If it goes straight to the battery it's both. If it goes through some type if circuitry, then maybe just an output (i.e. Diodes involved) I have never seen the latter however.

The one on your bmw is run on canbus system and only handle about 5w
You cannot use for heated gears or pump. Only for gps or charging your phone.

    Hello Ian
I am not familiar with the 2016 model. Since the bike is new I assume they are OEM.
Without reading the manual I cannot answer your question. However in the order model they only come one and very restricted what to use.
Perhaps they update on new bike so owner can use their other accessories like heated gears with out shutting off by Canbus system. I will ask my friend at the dealer to see if this is the case.

    Cheers

Thanks for your help- but I think we are mixing 2 subjects.

I'm trying to figure out my 06 VFR aftermarket plug and I'm just comparing it to the Stock BMW

    Ooh chit.....Ok
The one on your VFR look like Powerlet connector and can be use for heated gears or what ever run on 12v
You need to take a look at the wiring and the connector to know if they are two way or one.
As far as I know after market connector only out put. Most of the people including myself use this for charging our battery

    Hope this help
    Cheers
