Hi all, I was looking for a sport tourer and my local dealership tossed me the keys to a Gen 8 DLX for the whole afternoon. I think I found my forever bike. That VTEC howl is absolutely intoxicating.

I think it's the perfect combo between a commuter bike, highway runner, and weaving around the Boston gridlock. I'll be using it for a 15 min daily commute up the turnpike, going in/around downtown Boston, and trips out to Hampton beach and Portsmouth on the weekends.

The military was not kind to my joints, but this is the most comfortable go-fast bike I've ever touched. It was as close to ergonomically perfect as a stock bike ever was, especially considering my situation. I might need to make a few minor tweaks to get it just right. Hopefully I've come to the right place.

Anyway, this is long enough for an intro. Looking forward to getting in the wind on this thing! Cheers

Photos coming soon! I did get the white, they really wanted me to take the red one off the showroom floor but the white looks so clean. It was worth the extra wait for shipping.

Thanks! With a little bit of ergonomic fiddling this thing is going to be the forever bike!

Yes, that VTEC sound is quite intoxicating! I often watch my trip videos just so I can hear it kick in. :)

    JB...often is an understatement!! ;)

Good for you with the white!!
So classy and clean. Way to go!!

Plus, it takes in soooo much color in certain lighting situations. Check out my photo gallery. My moto has been every kind of color.

It took longer than the dealer initially told me to get here, but it's finally arrived! Image1467337132.897149.jpg

It's a nice improvement from the old bike :)

More parts and gear are on their way! This might not be the only bike I ever own, but I'm definitely keeping it for as long as I ride!

    It really is :)

Nothing that'll hugely change the bike performance wise. I ride really mixed conditions, from downtown Boston to I-95 highway running to alpine twisties. Mostly comfort stuff! The list so far:

    -Tank Bag

    http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/...product&kwd=&gclid=CITBuuzd0s0CFdNahgodaa8FMQ

-Grips that'll play nice with the stock heated grips. Actually that's a reorder. Last night after I was done riding I ripped one. May or may not have had one too many adult beverages before the attempted installation..

    https://www.amazon.com/Woodys-M15-GRIPPUPPY-Puppy-Comfort-Grips/dp/B008FD6DXW

-Bar risers from motopumps to take some pressure off the wrists while stuck in Beantown traffic.

    http://www.motopumps.com/risers.html

The folks at Helibars don't make risers for 8th generation VFR's and need a prototype. Their facility is not too far away and they want to borrow my bike. Free set of bars if I do!

-tank pad, to keep that paint poppin' fresh

    http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/4861/i/pro-grip-tank-pad

-lowered pegs to ease the flex in my left knee particularly. Military was not nice to the joints!

    http://www.knightdesignllc.com/Prod...FR800/Honda-10-VFR800F-1-Front-Foot-Pegs.html

-skully AR-1 helmet. It's supposed to arrive in July, really looking forward to seeing what it's all about. Like you said, Iron Man! I shall name it Jarvis

    https://www.skully.com

-new jacket. I actually won a contest that skully was running for orders, so it should arrive around the same time as the new lid, they say. It's from alpinestars

    http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-gp-r-leather-jacket

I'm supposed to go see a friend that works at a custom seat shop and get fitted for a longer distance-friendly seat. Shameless plug for them.

    http://superiorinteriors.com

He wants to see about making their own version of Corbin's gunfighter and lady seat with the heater and the removable passenger backrest, except not hard as a rock. I will go with them because I'd like to support the local moto businesses.

    http://corbin.com/honda/hvfr814e.shtml

Eventually I want to do some touring in Canada. So I'll have to check out some bag options from Givi or Honda. Possibly a new windscreen too, though I don't have any issues with stock. But I don't wanna do too much too soon!

That's a pretty interesting article, thanks for sharing!

Watching the relationship between tech startups and tech reporters is always fun. A bunch of people with cool ideas and limited practical business experience on one side. And on the other, a bunch of very tech savvy users with instant gratification fits.

I did just get an email that they expanded production lines and expect to be completely caught up with all back orders by September.

I can't really say anything bad about them, as they are giving me a free Alpinestars JAWS jacket, gave me 10% off the lid, and free shipping.

The company rep who made the arrangements for the discounts and jacket told me the bucket will be here when the July batch goes out. Will have to see if everything comes in on time as promised!

    I hope you're right.

TechCrunch is very reputable. I'm in the eComm industry and work with a lot of these startups, including those who cut their teeth crowd funding.

Look at Coolest Coolers. It was the largest successful crowd funding campaign and its a nightmare.
