Just got home from the dealer I bought it from in Germany.

    It is a 1989 VFR750 with 45.000km.

Very nice! You sure about 89? Looks like a 18/16 wheel combo.

    No that was in 90
It is a 86 or 87, it has 37mm dampers, and 16/18 wheels.
But first registration was 89 when sold new in Germany.

10th number in vin number is G, so I'm assuming 87??

Not 100% sure, they're all about the same.. Mines 86, bought it for $200 with spare motor, stolen twice and recovered twice!! Unbelievable engines.. :)

My numbers at the end are all numeric, but engine code starts with RC07E for the engine and RC24... for frame..

Ok, my 10th in the vin is G the 11th is a M

Ok thx, yes there is a stamp, but that is the vin number, and I'm just thinking, since it had it's first registration 27-07-89 then it must have been in a Honda dealer from 86/87 to when it was sold in 89?

It is a bit funny, driving down to the Honda dealer, I told my brother, that the best for me would have been, to get the first model (86-87) but since this was a low km 1989 bike, that was very nice looked after since new, then I said to him, I'II take it.

And now what did I get, a 86 or 87 low km, and very nice maintained VFR :- ))

I think your bike is a US-market model that was probably a slow seller in the US, and was offered to other Honda importers elsewhere to clear the old stock. That certainly happened here in New Zealand as I was working at a Honda dealer at the time, when I bought a couple of identical looking VFR700's. I think the US market at the time was going crazy for GSX-R750's instead, silly boys.

I love your bike, and that is the best colour scheme for that model. Enjoy!

Here's one of mine, way back when:

YES you can be right, maybe is was for US market. But the speedometer is km/h, but that could have been changed if coming to Europe from Japan/USA.
So now I have 2 thing to find out, is it a 86 or 87 and was it a USA import to Germany. Maybe Honda Germany can help me?

Nice picture you have, you should never have sold it :- ))
