So in a bit of randomness, I just got off the phone with the Discovery Channel who want to use my old GS for a TV shoot. And ofcourse I said... Yes.

And even that would be a good price... For comparison: https://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/5646995366.html

Buy low, and keep, I say!

To satisfy the proof needed to show the inside of your tank, you'll need to rent or purchase an endoscope. The peanut gallery must have pix!

Get a contract. Chance are they will be careful with the bike but some of these outfits use interns who might respond to "moving" the bike might dump it. I made a quick 500 pesos in one day for an ad shoot for a "popular" cola drink. The bike was my SR500. It was red at the time.

If you go and watch, take a lunch. Lots of folks running around being important on those gigs. This is why sometimes a 90 minute movie takes a year to shoot.

I made some great student bucks in 1985 when my VF400F was rented for a Japanese domestic Bridgestone tyre commercial being filmed by a Japanese crew in my home city of Auckland, which must have looked quaint and exotic to them. Turned out they also needed a rider, so I got paid for that as well, and ended up with four full days work plus rowdy well lubricated dinners. They also rented new a new RZ250, RG250 and good friend's GPz900, plus a Guzzi 500 (which became magically lighter during a few hours of riding as various parts jumped ship).

I have a nice video memento which includes a helicopter shot of me riding the GPz across our harbour bridge, all nicely (but excitedly) narrated by a Japanese voice telling us all about the virtues of Bridgestone Battlax tyres. The low point was when my friend and I were being filmed at a race track with him riding my VF400 and me on the RG, when we had an unfilmed braking duel into a hairpin and I locked up the minty RG and dropped it, whilst wearing lovely Kushitani leathers and a new Arai. Whoops. Local racer/hero Graeme Crosby was also bought in for some real knee dragging footage, a truly nice bloke.

The crew also hired a young lady who said she could ride, turned out not so, and for one memorable and fortunately long distant shot, my GPz-owning male friend was dressed in her riding gear and with a blond wig draped out of the back of his/her helmet so it looked like a happy couple out for a spin on the Bridgestone-cald VF400 and RZ250. Happy days indeed.

Those Guzzi 500s I'm fairly sure had flywheels that were precursors to Frisbees.. My SR just sat there with a gorgeous critter astride in several takes.
