A final note ... not sure what happened on the trip, I'm guessing the bike wasn't broken in with only 9,800km's on it, but since I got back, the bike has been a beast and even sounds more beastly.

The engine somehow sounds deeper / stronger ... and it will wheelie without much effort without the luggage.

    Yep.
Recent, too. Family vacation just ended 3 weeks ago, after 2 in Australia, then one in New Zealand. Anyone who professes against "Intelligent Design" should go to NZ for a challenge to his or her thought process.

Anyway, the roads in NZ and the views from them have me aching to go back and ride the ones I drove, then find so many more and ride those also. Oh my, if there was an economical way to transport the VFR across the International Date Line and the Equator, sometime about January....

Reading your posts on the great Black Hills area, I'm even more sure now that the one day I spent riding through there last summer was woefully inadequate and the area will need to be revisited. Glad you had an awesome time, and appreciate your sharing it with the rest of us.

Yah, you need more than a week to actually really get into it and enjoy the area.
