I wouldn't be able to do Vegas, but if we'd planned this earlier I would have put off my north Cal trip until Aug 22! Excellent roads in north Cal: hwy 3 west of Redmond comes to mind, then down to Red Bluff for a tear at hwy 36. Could be fun! Hey if this works out, let's start plans for next year!

I am going to be in Maui from 8/17 - 8/24, but I'll be in town the weekend of 8/25. When are you guys headed back southbound? Perhaps a BBQ at my place on 8/25 or 8/26? I'm in Pleasanton, which is in the East Bay Area.

cool. I have ridden up there where you live before. I plan on coming up and stopping for a bit in Sac to see my sis in law and her BF. if you can make it work, maybe we can meet there and head on up... I am pretty much gonna keep it loose and see what happens. I know what days I have and I'll just go wherever the breeze blows.

That's my attitude too, just gonna go with the flow. Meeting in Sac would be fine. I should know here soon about the dates. I'm waiting on a couple work related project issues to know for sure. Already got the wife's OK, so that hurdle is crossed.

I wasn't planning on leaving till the 21 or 22, If I leave on the 22nd I was just going to iron butt it all the way there and meet the Ca. group either in Eureka or Redding, that should give you plenty of time on the wedding guests to be on the ride of the year...

Who or what is Alice's, does she have a friend

I'ts looking like I'm out. Been waiting for my boss to approve my vac request and found out yesterday she's now out on medical leave till mid Sept, meaning we'd be too short-handed for me to take off. There's still a small chance for me to get approval so I haven't totally given up.

Hi guys...now you are in my neck of the woods. If you want, I would be happy to show you Alice's restaurant and the local riding scene. It's pretty awesome.
I'm heading out tomorrow (Aug. 5th) for an 8 day ride up into Oregon and Washington, via Hwy. 1 and 101 so won't be going on your ride later in the month.
I use to own a motorcycle touring business in California and also was born and raised here so I am quite familiar with the good bike roads.
If you have any questions about northern California just post them here and I will be happy to reply, or find answers for you.
I would recommend staying away from Redding and Red Bluff this time of the year as it can get extremely hot.
One summer we rode through Redding while it was 118 degrees

I go to Alices all the time. Actually, usually the Harley's hang out at Alices, and the sportbikes hang out across the road at the little market. Not that there's any contention of any kind, that the way it tends to work out.

By the way, this is where the Doc Wong Safety Day is located each year. I saw some posted that say it's happening on August 12 this year, but I can't find confirmation of that. The 2008 information is posted here:

I'll see you boy's in Eureka on the night of Sep. 19, I'll be coming down with at least one rider and I'll start checking out motel rooms for at least the first night. I'm guessing there will be at least two California riders coming up for this.

I'm starting to get very excited for this because I've never done the famous N. California twistys, but I've talked to a lot of people who have and they have all said it's just the ultimate!

Alice's is a great biker spot down on Hwy 35 (Skyline) south of San Francisco. Considering that I just came back from a trip to Vancouver, I couldn't do the whole thing with you guys, but since I live in San Francisco, I could definitely meet you for the local part. Are you guys planning on coming through the Bay Area, and when?

I'm guessing Reg will rolling through the Bay Area around lunch time on September 19 and will be going the coast route up to Eureka, here is a map of the planned ride but we will be adding Mt. Rainier once we get to Washington...
