I found a nice spot to park the bikes in Custer while we wait out a few thunderstorm.

    Billy is just jealous.

So maybe I missed it, did they look into her electrical problems?
And I take it the bike runs fine......

So far so good. I think the issue is still there but you can't really diagnose it until it rears its ugly head again.

I was hoping we'd get back to camp early enough to look, but these thunderstorms have us stuck in Custer right now.

Hell, seeing all of this made me want to drop everything to ride across country and see if I could link up with any of them. Thank you for the great thread and keep it up!

Actually this is making me more convinced that trailering my bike is the way to go for a cross country tour. But big props to AM for the challenge! You only live once so might as well enjoy it while you can!

Trailering your bike? Blasphemy. That's what uhaul is for.

6th Gen don't normally have these demons either. We'll have to perform an exorcism tonight.

    Neither do 98s..
But if it was in a location that took many miles of flat, straight, boring for 100s of never ending miles, then add in the extra wear and tear on me, then I might think about hauling as I am on a certain N.Ca exploring. But sometimes it's not about the destination as much as it's just getting there that's 90% of the fun.

There's not much to re-use on the Scott's filter. The issue of replacement has not come up. The filter has been on the bike for at least 15 years. Prior to that and using Golden Spectro I was buying Honda filters by the six pack. Switched over to Shell Rotella T with 0 problems.

The Scott's is all metal including the seal. The metallurgy and machining is aerospace level. All the tech stuff in on the Scott's site.

I can't speak to the liability and replacement issues. Way to diverse and complicated for any quick fix answers.

I thought we established in the other thread that trailering the bike was only acceptable if you live in Misery, and want to go ride the great roads in the rocky mountain high.

scotts filters are total junk, they don't filter anything. Just look at at steel wool-better than scotts filter which lets more crap though it might as well have a hollow steel shell.
