I have heard of some sick people booby-trapping roads to fuck with bikers. Is this a popular road with squid problems?

It is one of many popular roads in this neck of the woods. For a long time now, there has been speculation and proof that some roads have been tampered with.

Gator, its the snake up to the Rock Store and yes people are known to Booby (love that word) trap the roads. It's been talked about since 84 when I started going up there. Good thing a car or truck wasn't coming the other way, would of ran over his bike.

Sorry to hear that Lint, glad you're OK. I'm sure you've checked your bike for leaks, was there any sign of the material on the road ? If you think it may have been sabotage, then personally I think it's worth reporting. There can be all sorts of stuff left on the road but most of them are visible to some degree. It wouldn't be hard to swab the residue and run it through the lab to get an idea of what it is and whether it would be likely to find it's way onto the road accidentally. That sort of shit gets people killed sooner or later and next time it could be a LEO on his bike, I think they'd take it seriously if there have been enough incidents.

Its hard to tell from the photos, but could that be tar from a road snake or grease? I have learned that not all tar strips are the same stuff. The strips here don't seem too bad, except in the pouring rain at speed, but down in Twisp Washington, I am sure they mix an additive to their tar to make it slippery. Even a very slow turn at an intersection on the road snakes there will make your front end slip out on you. It has been that way for a few years now. But is seems only to be in the township of Twisp, not the leading highways, which are otherwise, orgasmic to ride on.

If for no other reason than to serve your curiosity, you may wish to go explore the area leading up to where you went down for any hazards, accidental or purpose. Take a note book and camera. If someone is setting traps, I am sure it is illegal there. Here it can be considered a Criminal Offense: Sec 247(1) Criminal Code of Canada

Traps likely to cause bodily harm

247 (1) Every one is guilty of an indictable offence and is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years, who with intent to cause death or bodily harm to a person, whether ascertained or not,

    (a) sets or places a trap, device or other thing that is likely to cause death or bodily harm to a person; or

Lolzzz, Randy, here is my I dropped him post.

Turning around on a slope + heavy load + not enough speed + little footing = being in a pickle.

It must have looked so dumb how it fell so slow with all that crap on it. I was laughing as soon as he got back up. Lolzzz

Tiny chip in paint, few surface scratches, some scuffs on mirror. Banana lever as Jeff called it. Bwhahaha

    My lesson...keep practicing tight turns.

Well I hate to admit it but I dropped it 5 days ago in a motel parking lot trying to make a tight turn. Front locked to the right and down it went slowly. Just to top heavy for me to stop. Scratched up the side panel a little. Damn!!

Well trucks drop stuff all the time here and all most never get a ticket, must be a big thing in Canada. But here you can throw all kinds of stuff on the road, tv , mattress anything, hopefully a few dead trolls too.

I used to think that until I recently changed tires ... the bike turns awesome at low speed now.

    WELL THERE YA GO!

Your tally has been amended. You have reached second place, tied with Cadbury 64. But still quite a ways from conquering the leader of this rag tag pack...Scubalong.

Good work! I'm proud of the way you have shown improvement in your performance over this short time.

Hey Randy you may have spotted on the R3 posts a photo of Long's Black VFR taking a nap. As I was the one riding it that one goes down to me not Long. It had been parked OK for 5 minutes whilst we went to take pictures of the Borego salt flats. Then just as I was walking back to the bike there was a sudden gust of wind which lifted the bike up almost upright - allowing the side stand to retract and down she went. I think Long may have caught it on his gopro.

I offroaded my bike in an effort to avoid the live fire happening on the military base that we were on. Notice from the R3 video how I popped up out of the weeds like a well trained sniper. To the untrained eye, it looks like a I crashed, but the trained eye, it looks like I had specialized training and used it to save my life.

Well I finally dropped my bike. I've had it about a month now and was riding 2 up with my wife. She had her hands around my waist, but I noticed that my phone was hanging out a bit while I was riding, two or three times I checked it. All I had to do was pull over but i was following my buddy and his wife. Then about 20 minutes later on a nice twisty road I saw my phone fall out in my mirror, so I pulled over, put the bike in Neutral, turned the bike off, put the kickstand down, waited for my wife to get off. I got off and down the bike went on the left side! Rolled forward and collapsed the kickstand. Lesson learned- leave it in first gear.
I broke all the parts I just replaced from the previous owners drops. Shift lever bent(was able to heat up and straighten out) it was my second ride with the brand new shift lever. Feeler peg I just replaced broke and the foot peg threads that hold it in the foot peg broke, so now I need a new footpeg too. Scraped the upper fairing, lower fairing, mirror, bar end and shorty clutch lever. I already had a stock long Honda clutch lever on order, so that'll be replaced soon. I was on the ColorRite site, I guess I'll just touch up the fairing and not go too crazy with perfection until it comes time to sell the bike a few years from now when I get a used 2015 VFR Deluxe!

Sorry bud, make a habit to always keep it first...I've always done it since my first bike rolled forward on a small down hill off it's stand.
Shit happens...at least your wife was off the bike.....

Oh, Randy will put you down for 1.....
