OMGeeeeeeee, I just took 24 West and hooked up to 99.

24 was one of the most exhilarating rides I have ever been on!!!!

Average- good condition road. Started with a mountain climb then down it, and repeat. Only stops in super curvies were straight aways enough to get the job of passing over. Still had passing lanes in some areas. Little cities but 70kph through them, one 50kph. Extremely light traffic. I could safely go a healthy ***kph, teeheehee, and still feel okay for driveways and wildlife.

    A ride to remember![IMG]

OK, I'll be the patriotic one, "Love the Canadian flag sitting just ahead of your tank bag." That'll win you some bonus points with the locals. LOL

Then she would LOVE Washington!! Talk about some amazing roads, and I only did them a couple times, and more than a few years ago. As a matter of fact, back in a time when my CB900F was almost a new bike. LOL

I hope I am not too late but you know you do not come all the way into Vancouver to catch the ferry to Nanaimo don't you. You catch the ferry at Lions Bay which is about 30 miles or so north/west of Vancouver proper. I do think there is wifi on those boats now.
You made good time getting from Prince George on down. How did you like the Duffy Lake Road? from Lillooet to Pemberton? The 99?

Yes, I saw the exit for those ferries. I'm not too far from there. Where ever this bridge is I'm near that.

I didn't go clear to Prince George. I saw some amazing roads that vut down to 99. So I took 5 and 24 to 97 then 99.

Funny you ask....I came all the way to Vancouver because rain tomorrow along 99. I didn't want to do mountain passes in rain. Sooooo glad I did.

    99 to Lillooet is amazeballs!!!!

Lillooet to Pemberton is sooooo crummy....and construction with gravel and dirt going uphill steep that would be mud in rain....I don't need a repeat of riding mountain....here I'd fall off the mountain. Although I should add that the views were amazing and being right in the mountains was pretty wonderful!! It was just more stressful than enjoyable. Canada's tail of the dragon. Lol

From Whistler into Vancouver is breathtaking!!!!

Ya mean to tell us all that riding nearly half way across Canada, though rain, freezing temps, wild life, with numb fingers and toes, suffering an electrical gremlin, and after ALL that, you're afraid of riding in the DARK............... LOL. Never would have guessed there was something you wouldn't do. LOL

That is the Lions Gate bridge so you are in West Vancouver. On the other side of that bridge is Vancouver and actually, Stanley park. By the looks of the angle, you might be in Ambleside Park or near by.

Interesting history of that bridge. It was built by a Liquor Tycoon who bought up property in North Vancouver in the early 1900's. His property was not worth developing unless he could get people over to the north shore to buy and develop the property. SO he underwrote the construction of that bridge that was actually a tolled bridge for many years. It was turned over to the Provincial Government several decades ago. The tolls were long ago removed. Well before my arrival to BC in 1978.

In the mid 90's that bridge was in a sad state of disrepair. There was a lot of discussion on what to do. Traffic was a nightmare and the deck was falling apart. There was talk about a tunnel under the Burrard Inlet there and also tearing down that bridge and building a new on.

The idea to build a wide bridge got nixed as did the tunnel because it would have meant to widen the road that went through Stanley Park which is a jewel in the centre of downtown Vancouver. So they refurbished that bridge. Over several months every weekend, they shut the bridge down over night and removed a complete section of the bridge deck and lowered it to a barge below. A new section was hoisted up and attached. This went on until every section of the bridge deck had been replaced. The superstructure got some work done as well and for the first time, they had those lights put up and turned on.

Traffic during rush hour is still an issue on that bridge but the citizens of this city love their bridge.
