My wife's parents mentioned there is a great place called Rathtrevor Park campground on the ocean in Parksville, about a half hour north of Nanaimo. They said it has full shower facilities and full service campsites. I agree with Jeff and the others, Prince Rupert will always be there and the best part about your trip is that it is YOUR trip. Make plans, change plans, it's all up to you.

So far you,ve hit a few of the capital cities in the various provinces IIRC, Winnipeg, And Edmonton, so to keep up with the pattern, you really should visit Victoria. LOL

Like Jeff and Allyance, best to make it as enjoyable as possible and work around what the other option are.. ;) Hint Hint, there's a lot out here, so pick your poison. It would be hard to go wrong in any direction. So go where the sun takes you, god knows you deserve it.

Anywhere on the North Central Coast, you are more likely to see rain and cool temps. There are people there from different parts of the world who have sun sensitivities who move there to make their lives more bearable.

Soon as you know your plans, let me know so I do or don't make other plans.

I was posted to Nanaimo right out of boot camp for two years. The worst 5 years of my life. If the good lord ever was to give mother earth an enema, it would be right in down town Nanaimo. Sorry Jeff!

LOL ... why do you say that? Maybe it's a nice place to visit but not to live??

    I also suggested Tofino.

To the corner store for the latest Archie comic book. Then to the gas bar to top up his 1.5 gal of gas.

I don't know where you can pitch a tent in Vancouver. If might be better to pitch in the Victoria area at Coldstream Provincial Park and take an early ferry out of Swartz Bay (Victoria) and I can meet you at the ferry landing this side at Tswassen. That ferry run is by far a more scenic ride than Nanaimo to West Vancouver. Same time on travel. We could then see Stanley Park far better and I can show you a bit of the down town area of Vancouver.

    Oh my, lol

Awesome tips, I'll do just that!!

Perfect too since the last thing I'm doing on the island is seeing Victoria

I'll look at ferry times later and see when I'd be taking off and let you know.

Glad you are still moving on. Sounds like a few ups and downs, but mostly ups. Trips are never perfect, but they give us something to talk about later around the fire.

    This ... memories.

I said this before, when the bike broke down and all the rain and cold, getting pulled over in the first 5 minutes of meeting me by Ranger Rick .... those are all things that necessarily weren't enjoyable when they happened, but later they will be fond memories that will stick in your mind and eventually become highlights of those trips. :)

    Just remember. . .

"Now it is a strange thing, but things that are good to have and days that are good to spend are soon told about, and not much to listen to; while things that are uncomfortable, palpitating, and even gruesome, may make a good tale, and take a deal of telling anyway."
