    Genius idea, NormK!

I think the first thing we'll get her to do is disconnect the battery and get that dash apart so she can see all the connections, see if there's anything visually out of place.

Then see if the wiring harness is the latest or upgraded. Her bike is a 2006 ... the recall says it only goes to 2005 but if memory serves, some early 2006's also had the issue.

Then have her pull all the fuses and check voltages as you've suggested to isolate the circuit.

Hers is an '06. There was no wiring recall on the '06 The problem was fixed by then. The only thing I can think of is that with all the rain she has gone through, there may have been a loose connection that the rain got into.

There is a cheap motel right at the border there where we could start out our trip. Best do the crossing of the border late evening or early morning cause the clock starts ticking soon as you get a date and time stamped receipt. Lots of time, but I will do the reverse time math to try to avoid major cities during rush hours. But it has to be just the two of us cause the more people that ride on these in a group, the less likely you are to succeed in the goal. This will be my third and last attempt at the Border to Border Insanity Iron Butt.

I thought some early '06 were affected? And yes, I think the last time it happened she had gone through some rain ... ??

Yah, I'm good with that ... I'll need to sleep for an entire day once we get there. LOL!

I had better convince my wife before you get here. I have a feeling once she meets you that she definitely won't let me go. Hahaha!

My wife will convince her of the benefits of us gone. She loves it when I go on these trips. No tossing turning snoring or screaming in my sleep. Now you will get to listen to that. I suspect that motel would allow you to store your trailer there while you are gone. We did that on one of my annual September rides with three friends in Spokane KOA campgrounds where we rented a cabin for a night.

I don't care to stay in Mexico so soon as we get there, we would get a time stamped receipt somewhere and bugger off back across the border into the USA and find a motel there. Hell, I have slept on freeway on ramps sitting on my bike with it on its center stand....easy. Slept that way for a few hours one night coming home from work.

    Wow! What a day!

The salty weather gave me a great challenge that I won! :)

Then the sun finally came out on the last hour of riding!!!

I stopped the moto for a pic of the sunny view. Flipped killswitch, turned key to off, put sidestand down, pulled out phone, snapped pic, put phoje away, sidestand up, key to on, flipped the killswitch, get the moto roaring....or not.

It went on the fritz again like a few weeks ago. No highway on ramp this time.

No worries!! I don't get upset with unexpected issues anyways. I just thought of get to try out my new jumper box. I had used it last night to charge my phone and that worked well...only when the box itself is charged. How could a cell phone drain all the juice out of it that's needed to jump a battery?

Oh well, I guess it's time to call AAA.

And message Jeff for moral support...the bike did it again...

I was so super excited I had 4G, especially after problems with my cell the first days on Canada.

Back and forth the AAA about what to do. In the meantime Jeff is giving me suggestions, researching potential problems, arranging a rescue, and worrying about me being so wet and alone...all this at the same time. While gt750 is standing by to make the rescue, spending his evening waiting around for me to come just for him to come get me.

Then he comes and gets me and has no suitable place for loading ramp. He gets creative, pops that bike up a humongous curb, maneuvers it past an air pump with maybe feet to spare with him balancing on the edge of a curb, gets it on the truck. Then drives me to his place while almost getting rammed on the highway from someone not yielding in a merge. Pretty much he is an awesome person and we shared stories and laughed the whole way to Edmonton.

So, just quieted down in Edmonton at his place. I'm doing laundry and will shower and research more of links I see here.

We will tear things apart in morning looking for any glaring issues. I'm nervous continuing this way. If my jumper was always charged I wouldn't be concerned, but I'm camping a lot.

    Intermittent problems are the worst.

BUT...it could be worse. I could be without this amazing group of friends here, it could have been still raining, I could of had no phone service which has happened plenty here, I could have been in a sketchy city of creepers, or on a secluded mountain pass surrounded by moose and grizzlies to be trampled and eaten, or stolen by a meanie who thinks they need a wild hearted moto lady.

I have so much to be thankful for, how could I even be upset at this hiccup?

Plus I'm in Alberta! Plus I met another awesome member and his wife! I get to learnmore about my moto tomorrow! Soon I'll be posting a BC pic and my goal of western provinces is complete...even if I have to change my itinerary to accommodate time needed for the moto.

Today was a challenge, but an awesome day.

I'm still shivering, but my heart is warm!!

Shredded rain covers for saddlebags. Both ripped up in same places. I'd say there is a design flaw. Lol[IMG]

When this happened a few weeks ago, it had been raining and I was riding in it two days before. No rain on the actual day, but plenty before. I have been riding in rain since Thursday. All day yesterday with a short break in rain mid afternoon.

Good to hear folks here know how to come to the rescue huh? very cool to hear all isn't to bad,. But yea two things I read have me going ??? One the battery at rest is low, to low. that tells me the charging system may be at question or it's just a battery, lets hope it's a battery, other than the cost that's an easy fix. A quick check on that will tell you. Then with all the rain there's the question what it got into. I know a lot of folks ride in the rain, riding in the rain is one thing, doing 100s of miles in it all at once is another, fingers crossed as Randy noted the connections look good and that's not going to be a treasure hunt to find. That noise you heard sounds to be a connection is trying to be made, like the start switch or something like that where it isn't making good contact, low voltage plays into that too. Best of on the checking, you're in good hands where you are.
