Hi. Had my carbs electronically cleaned and bike ran a dream. New filters etc etc. The other day the bike started but ran rough not really reving then cut out. Started again after a lot of trying half an hour later ran rough for a couple of miles then sweat as a dream. Yesterday started ran rough did not Rev then cut out. Would not restart. I've owned the bike since 88 and it has always been a good starter except when the regulator failed. Even after a year standing it would start so I know this bike well. Do we think it's the regulator again. Turns sweet just seems like no fuel getting to it. Not so much as a cough of firing. Thoughts please.

If it is cranking over but not firing, remove the top off the air box and give it a squirt of starter fluid, if it attempts to fire you can be pretty sure it is a fuel problem. If it doesn't attempt to fire then you need to start looking to see if it has spark

If you have been working on your carbs, check the connections the coils mounted on carb assembly. I had a fatigued blue wire, causing rpms to drop, then jump back to normal.

Thanks. Havnt got to it yet. Last time it was the regulator and it took me 2 years to find one. At least now there are more around and some after market ones as well

Thanks everyone. Fiddled with loads of connections yesterday. Couldnt find anything loose or corroded. However the VFR fired up and is running sweet as a nut so must have been something somewhere.
Looks though the carbs might be leaking though! Old biokes dont you just love em.
On anothernote the AT sailed through its MOT today with no advisories.:)
