I've had this thing for about a month now. I bought it from an old gent 6 hours north of me.

I did the thermostat, tire, chain, and oil. A day after I changed oil, I had a 3 inch puddle of oil under the drain plug. The po had tightened the drain plug to the point where it deformed the alum gasket so badly it wouldn't seal. So today, I put in a new gasket.

I've always been a fan of these bikes from a distance. When I bought my 929 back in 01, I remember looking real hard at the Interceptor in the showroom. It took me 15 years, but now I have both the 929 and Interceptor.

    Gotta love new tires.

The 929. The other Red Bike.

I spent a lot of time cleaning on the Interceptor. It's not perfect. It has a few minor little scratches and a couple of chips. But they touched up well. No cracks or dents, tho.

I like the Interceptor a lot more than I thought I would.

Well one of the more popular suspension upgrades is a CBR929 shock as mentioned from Daugherty Motorsports. Add that Jamie's front fork upgrade kit and I bet you'd love it even more. I've got one of JD's rear shocks on my 2000 and it made an amazing difference. Almost bought a 929 once. Saw one for sale locally and asked the owner if I could pop by and see the bike and he mentioned that he had a guy coming to look at it that day but said come on by anyway. By the time I got there, the other guy had purchased the bike and had gone home to grab his gear. The next bike I went to look at was a 97 VFR750, which I brought home.

The 96 VFR that my wife had purchased for herself a few years back went off to a new owner today to be forever kept in the manner to which it had become accustom.

Was a little sad to see the bike ride off into the sunset as the 96 brought back many fond memories of the 97 VFR that I owned when I met my wife. My wife loved the look of the 4th gen, but it just wasn't the bike she was comfortable riding. After spending 10 years away from riding she was concerned it was a bit TOO much bike after bringing the front wheel up the first time she went for a ride.

After a bit of searching and contemplation on what she wanted, a 1981 Honda CB400T Hawk found its way into the garage. My first bike was a 1984 CB450 Nighthawk, so once again the memories are there and the 400 is a great little bike.

    Though one is gone

A new one has taken its place, and at least it's still a Honda. LOL

Yeah it's a weird dzus fastener literally only used by Honda on the 86-87 vfr's. It's a weird non standard size, I went through some fastener catalog pdf's and couldn't find a replacement. I messaged some eBay sellers to see if they would see just the bolt from $25 side panels, nobody has bit yet. Not about to spend 35 shipped for a single dzus fastener, zip tie for now hehe

I'm driving the 86 more than the 96 now, thing is just a hoot to toss around. Sounds so good I don't even turn off the Bluetooth in my helmet.

I have to say I like that piggy back reservoir, it's what I've been looking for after the delink.
Do the quick connects shutt off when unplugged?

I've hod the 929 for only 2 weeks, at this point. I had a new Elka shock ready and waiting. So I do have a donor 929 shock for the Interceptor, if need be. Is there an extension needed for the 929 shock to work on the Interceptor? Is it a direct swap? Custom sprung and valved would be the way to go, but is the 929 shock useable the way it is?

I started working real hard at getting out of debt a long time ago. I pay cash for everything. Yes it's nice.

There's a good probability that a 996 Super Hawk is in the future as well. I have a KTM 990 Super Duke, so I decided to diversify first.

Taking a 2 day trip to Mt. Washington New Hampshire this weekend. Highest peak east of the Mississippi. My Corbin seat arrived today, just in time.

Have a fun ride. FYI Mt. Mitchell is the highest in the east. In fact there are a bunch in the Smokies that are 400-500 feet taller than Washington, but Washington holds all the wind speed records.

Checked the chain slack. It was OK. The bike will get ridden this weekend with a new shoe on the rear. Yeah.
