anyone have an 82 sabre their parting out? I really need the kickstand. the stand on my 84 ceptor is like 11 1/4 inches long and is to long to be useable most of the time. I measured a stand from an 82 sabre and it measured 10 inches long. I think the sabre stand would do much better on my bike! Trades anyone? If not, how much for an 82 sabre stand?
    PEACE

I have an '82 Sabre and the kickstand measures 11". I don't exactly where you're measuring from and to on the stand. My '83 Ceptor measures about the same.

    evt,
i measured from the middle of the bolt down to the point where the flat foot starts. I saw an 82 sabre next door to my work and took the opportunity to measure its stand and mine and found the sabre stand to be about an inch shorter.

You're right on the measurement. My '82 Sabre measures 10" from the center of the bolt to the flat foot, and my '83 Ceptor is 11". I don't know why yours is too long. My ceptor's kick stand works fine. As far as I can tell both are bone stock. Those old Sabres are parted out on E-Bay a lot. I'd look there. I looked at the local m/c junkyard yesterday and didn't see one.

Ground down the stop so the kickstand stops further forward. That should increase your lean angle.

That's a good idea. Also, are you sure it's not bent a little?

I actually bent my OEM stand ever so slightly to make it work better. Hopefully that will make it thru the rest of this riding season! Thanks everyone for your input!
