He needs less tire pressure to get back up the 30 miles of forest service road to his enclave.

And how have you come across this conclusion, exactly? Based on decades of manufacturing, testing, racing and spending millions of dollars on R&D, no doubt... I'm sure years of MotoGP experience has led you to this decision.

I go by how the tire works for me, not on what some race rider thinks

    SOW,
I am going by what the heads of Michelin's technical department tells me, as well as 8000 miles of track, freeway, canyons, etc. Since I actually wore out my front tire a little sooner than my back due to trail braking into miles of canyon turns, I can attest to the fact that they know what they are talking about. I can tell you that leaned over and exiting a turn at nearly full throttle well into the VTEC peak HP, the factory recommended pressure holds grip very well. I'm not trying to brag that I am some uber GP rider, rather relate that I have pushed these tires to the ragged edge of their limit and that they held. As a matter of fact, I have broken the back tire free under acceleration during corner exits and it was controllable at all times. 80 miles of track day, in high temps, canyons run at all temps, even cold and wet and they held. You have nothing to lose by listening to advise from those that have gone before you. Just as I know you have nothing to gain by running some arbitrary pressure made up in your head with no empirical data with which to back up your decision. Ultimately it is your bike, your decision, but I have done my due diligence as well as having practical first hand experience. It just doesn't make sense to do something without having anything to back up your idea...

Well I ride on bumpy roads and less air works better for me. I have a DMR rear shock coming-I hope that helps.:spider:

Have you considered that you have your suspension set too hard? I know nothing about you, so I don't know your weight, but it's something to consider. You're getting a DMR shock, but what about the forks? Your bike needs to stay balanced. A good aftermarket setup will go a long way towards taking the bite out of bumps.
