Pretty cool, went to their web site, but no specs on their horizontal speed. They show a sport bike & drone (illustration), I wonder how fast it can track or follow. Anybody have any experience with drones?

I have several drones and have tried the follow me type and they are basically only good for mild speeds walking /cycling etc

They wouldn't have a hope at cruising speeds of a road bike and would most likely crash into a tree/building/car or a person as the obstacle avoidance applications are only in their infancy at the consumer/hobbyist level of drones at this stage

Not too mention you really should not operate a drone near a road or vehicles unless you have a BIG fat wallet full of cash and a Great lawyer

Drones could provide some new twists to skeet shooting.

I use quadcopters for commercial applications. If you're wanting a decent quadcopter, I would recommend a DJI Phantom 3 Pro or a Yuneec Q500+. Both can fly approximately 28 MPH forward. It's a tool that would be used for a 50cc moped race or a slow shot of your bike. Save your money! Base price is around $1k.

OMG! Next they will want to ban Moped racing. There go all my hopes of being a fast guy.

Any of you dudes ever consider disguising one of those rigs as a giant flying bug?

I fly a Phantom 3 and a Solo. Actually shot a job today with the Phantom. The Solo is down, lost video feed and has to be repaired. The Solo supposedly will fly a little over 50 mph. I have only flown it at medium speeds. The Solo is from the guy that invented the Phantom and started his own company. It has follow me and orbit built in. I use both with GoPro 4's. Only use them as supplemental footage. We hire drone companies for anything that is large scale. Guy we use plunged a big one with a full Red rig down in the Bahamas. Big money on that one. They are fun and have been a cheap way to get cool shots and not hire Jet Rangers or A Stars for over a grand these days.

LOL Me being a heli pilot has a love hate thing, I've took a many up just for the special shot, now these gritters are taking over. Have you ever tried having it track you on your bike? I mean keeping the speed down of coarse, but was thinking if you had a set of a few left rights where speed wasn't the problem should be cool to see.

No I have not. Only had the Solo for a short time and now it's down for lack of video feed. It uses wifi and video latency is pretty bad, sometimes near a second. The Phantom is controlled by conventional RF. I have a nice Futoba controller for it. I think the Solo has potential but either they have not ironed out the bugs or I got a made on Friday lemon. Lol. If I remember correctly the solo has a video demo of orbiting and tracking a guy on a bicycle out to a peninsula on the ocean that was very cool. So I think it would be quite possible to track on a motorcycle not going very fast. What kind of birds do you fly? I have shot video and stills Adam a lot of jet Rangers and some a stars. I have also shot using a Wescam in the nose of jet Rangers and that is very cool. With a good pilot and controlling the camera with the joystick shots come very easy. Got the crap scared out of me many years ago shooting a building under construction. Pilot was a Vietnam veteran and we were in a Bell 2 seater. I had ask him to do a quick slip to the roof of the building and he slipped so fast that the guys working on the roof hit the deck. He asked me if that was fast enough and I said maybe a quarter of that speed please. Lol

I was backseat in a T38 doing touch and goes with a test pilot at Edwards. on the first pass, he dropped the landing gear, touched down lifted off then applied the rudder making it look like we were going sideways at well over 100mph. Scared the shit out of me. (almost)

The pilot, Major Tom Deegan was killed when his B33 Canberra lost one engine on takeoff stalled out and crashed. Tom was also the Captain of USAF Bobsled Team. This was cancelled.

Whoa, thats some cool serious stuff right there, stuff for the cool memory banks huh.

I did most of my film stuff in a Hughes 500D, now MD, some in the 300c and a R44. yea A-stars are cool, Rangers, meh, a dime a dozen, still nothing like the 500 unless it happens to be a Gazelle, like this one where I only had a few flights with, talk about something else to pilot, but, whew! yea deep sigh , if only.

Losing an engine on take off...... always bad. Most small 2 prop planes will not maintain altitude with just one engine much less be able to take off. A King air can do it though.

The B33 is a jet fighter bomber that had squib start engines. Now obsolete. Tom's bird was just airborne when one engine failed. He cartwheeled.

The heli type drones may be in for some serious looking by the FAA. According to the news, one hit a commercial passenger aircraft yesterday.

Accident, bad flying or on purpose I think the shit just maybe hit the FAAN.

Then we got the shitheads with the laser pointers who should be allowed to skydive withoot chutes.
