Stand behind the bike ( up on centerstand), and check to see if the tail section aligns properly with the center of the rear wheel. If the bike's been down it usually tweaks the rear subframe slightly, something that can be fixed.

Not sure how much you paid but based on the condition I would think it was somewhere in the $1800-$2300 range??

Thanks SM, looking at picture 5(posted above), it looks like things are aligned, I think?

Thanks RA, I recently sold my 2004 VFR and was getting an itch. Let's just say, I 'almost' stole it! :D

Alright guys so I have brought her home and have a few questions:

1- Handlebar is not aligned, left(clutch) side is leaning to the left while tire and front fender is in the center. Please see picture attached. How can I adjust and align it?

2-Moment or second I hold on to clutch, 'neutral' light comes on and very hard to tell if bike is actually in neutral or no? Anyway to take care of it? Bringing the bike to neutral also seems challenging?

3-Bike is idling at nearly 3500-4000 rpm, very annoying, going to adjust the idle.

4-Please see pictures for fairing damage, planning to repair them. Should I or leave them as is and maybe put some stickers on?

5-It was in late 60's and I was cruising at 55-65mph, but temperature gauge wasn't moving at all. It moved a little above 'C and not much beyond it. Is it normal or gauge is stuck?

6-Bike didn't come with a toolkit, am mostly interested in spanner for adjusting chain slack. Any pointers for it?

Other than that shifting of bike is smooth, runs like a top. I love these manual gauges and for some reason feel like it's a lot better than 2004; faster and lighter.

Here are better pictures to show fairing damage:

Question back at you. Does the clip ons & upper triple stay that way while going down the road? just because you do a line of sight with the fender doesn't mean that's the way she''ll head. if it does, that's some serious miss alignment, It may have bent forks? I know the triple trees will miss a line a little bit, but that's more than a little IMO. Idling at 3500, whoa, is this with the choke off? it will do that with the choke on. think EBay may be your friend here on those fairings. is the neutral light on when you turn the key on? then goes out? then come back on when you pull the clutch in? IIRC you should see at least the needle pretty much just off center when warm/ hot ;) lucky you, I have a tool kit ;)

Could be serious, but maybe just a "locked twist"

Bike needs to be on the centerstand, and you'll need to get most of the weight off the front wheel. Assuming you don't have a front stand you'll need to gently jack it up with a 2x4 under the oil pan... gently key word because this is usually a bad idea, but works in a pinch. Which means the fairing sides need to be removed in most cases.

The way to find out is to loosen both the upper and lower triple clamp pinch bolts, and the axle pinch bolts.

Only loosen the bolts enough to just about finger loose, but no more. I see the handlebar clip-ons are also off, but ignore those for now, your only concern is fork-to-wheel alignment at this point.

If the forks and top triple clamp don't re-align themselves, then there are bigger problems.

If they do re-align you're still not off the hook, but certainly will be in a better place to find baseline
    conditions.

Please DO NOT ride the bike until you get things straight, the bike as it sits is far from safe.

Thanks RVFR, answering your questions in order:

1- Yes clip ons and upper triple tree lean to the left in the exact same angle as I posted in the picture, clearly seems like a balance issue since it should be perfectly centered but it's not. Forks do not look bent at a quick glance, but I haven't checked them thoroughly either.

2-Idling is without the choke and so annoying, because at a stop light or a traffic light engine is reving high!!!

3-Yes neutral light does come, moment or second I turn the key on. When I was riding it yesterday, I immediately noticed that issue yesterday. Once clutch is pulled in, it does come again.

4-Since you have a toolkit, are you using it or willing to part ways with it? If so, I'll send you a PM.

    Thanks for all the help.

I picked this bike up to work and make it road ready/worthy. I am in no rush and going to put Stabil and Seafoam in gas tank and slowly work my way in terms of changing all fluids and fixing other things. Of course, I'll be consulting you guys for everything and I might use this thread with all my questions.

I do have fork stands( that's what you meant by front stand?)

Is there a thread or a video about the idea you are suggesting? I am definitely not going to ride it like this at all.

BTW, should I use this thread for all of my questions or post separately under respective forum? Thanks for all the help and advice.

We're only dealing with six bolts, four holding the forks up top and two holding the axle, I may have made it sound
complicated. Best to do a search for "front wheel removal" and find relevant info that way. :)

That's up to you, if you start another thread just make the title as relevant as possible.

Ok, but if you can change the title to "repairing crash damage" then it will show up as a result for someone else down the road.

Nothing quite like the raw / mechanical feel of the 4th gen bikes.
