Hello all! I purchased my 99 VFR800 in Thanksgiving with 27,000 miles on the clock. It is my second bike, my first was a Yamaha FZ6, and I ride it 60 miles almost every day to and from work. I really like it so far and pretty much every where I take it it get a lot of attention from guys that say they either wanted one or had one. I haven't done much to it except buy new Pirelli Angel GT tires to replace the old bridgestones it had on it when I bought it, and replace the stator.
Welcome Jslee27. Got pics? We can't wait to see your baby. Also put it in your profile as that is the first thing we look at when people ask questions about problems or accessories.
Welcome welcome to the insane asylum Nice, you got your self one of the best of the best being it's a 99 but.................................. where's the PHOTOS!!!
He lives very near one of Arizona's most exciting roads..................leading to Tortilla Flat, but the pavement is shits. :eagerness: Beautiful scenery and thousand-foot drop offs with no guard rails. :eek-new:
There were rumors they were going to fix it last year but they only did the main road leading up to the 88 :frown: I have been up there a hundred times in a car, but the first time I went up on my bike I couldn't focus on anything other than not crashing Unfortunately that takes most of the joy out of things
Hi Jslee. I'm down in Tucson with a white '06. Occasionally love to run around the Winkleman/Superior/Globe loop. I'm looking to do a spring 3-day back road Sedona Alpine --> Rte 191 loop. I haven't run 191 before but have heard it's good. Next I need to peg a date. Shoot me a message if you want to ride sometime. -Phil
I've done this ride on my '07. It is completely unsafe for a motorcycle. The view is good but not worth it.
i've done that ride to TF several times, and it's always exciting but don't look down !!! :uncomfortableness: Yes, it's very dangerous with blind curves, bad pavement, sand washes, downhill decreasing radius turns on the way back and no place to let your attention wander.
I know the road quite well and did it on my FZ6 I just was more worried about dodging gravel and stuff aaand i had only just started riding. Very sad really because not even 5 years ago that road was amazing to drive on, and the stories my dad used to tell about running his old RD350 up there were stuff of legend. It sucks because even in a car it's not that fun anymore, and the diner makes the best Green Chile burger I've ever had lol.
That sounds like a fun ride. I remember doing the 191 a long time ago in a thunderbird with my dad and mom... the trip was fun right until the end when 13 year old me was about to explode from lack of bathroom breaks and two 1 liters of Dr. Pepper lol. I plan on getting up to Mount Lemmon some time soon, I want to take my dad but he's slacking. My in-laws bought us a few nights in a cabin up there last summer and that road was amazing and smooth even in pouring rain and a fully loaded van... I can only imagine how great it is on two wheels.
Tucson --> AZ Rte 191 northbound this past Friday; stayed airbnb in Eagar. Saturday thru Payson to stay airbnb below Sedona. Sunday was Jerome, Prescott, then home to Tucson. 191 was great, but the whole trip had me checking radar to avoid rain (unsuccessful each day). Avg temp mid 40Fs, with a low of 32F. I was a month too early for enjoyable weather - will have to do it again ...and again ;-) Oh, and I joined airbnb after envisioning my baby all alone in a hotel parking lot while I would be snoring. I scored garage parking both rainy nights ;-)
