I have 3k on the rear PR3. Looks new. Getting the matching PR3 on the front on Thurs. If Ootv is correct, I'll be thinking of changing these tires in 15K.

Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves, depending on how and where you ride will dictate your mileage. The last two sets of PR tires I've had on my 6 Gen lasted 13.6k and 11.2k with mostly commuting and some touring thrown in. A little aggressive riding here and there but nothing like I do on the 5 Gen. On the last set I did get a nail in the tire and maybe about 5-6k was with a tire plug installed.

Ok on Revzilla and MCSS they are shown as size, and size with 'HWM'

The HWM designated listings are a few bucks more, I assume the HWM to mean "heavyweight motorcycle" so they'd be
    the GT version?

My pr3s seem to be wearing like iron compared to the conty road attacks 2 I had before. Approximately 7 thousand miles on them. Front looks good. Back is flattening some from the highway. Hard to tell how many miles I have left. I'm hoping another few grand...?

PR4 aren't track tires and would burn up fast

I think they would hold up fine.... unless you lowered the air pressure. Then they don't wear like they should.

Whatever tire your running on the track it is a track tire. Lol
Of coarse the braking, acceleration and corner speed will eat your tires up faster.

Haha well at least the guy was aware a "conventional" burnout would result in a deepfried rear brake with LBS... not to mention clutch.

I've been running the Metzeler Roadtec Z8's since they came out. I routinely get to the wear bars on the back tyre at around 8000km or 5000 miles. But I do like corners. A lot. I ride nothing but fun twisty roads on fine sunny days. The Z8's are awesome, comfortable, confidence inspiring tires, and I will be trying the Roadtec 01 next time.

    Like a bitch? lol
I have done hundreds of burn outs on old and ready to change tires. That was the first one I have ever done one like that because I did not know if the linked brake system would engage with just the front brake. I have found out since that you have to be rolling forward for it to activate so the next set of tires will be wall free..... bitch!

Metzelers arrived, thought I would throw up side-by-side shots before the PR4s go to floormat heaven.
I managed ~9,000 miles on the Michelins.
