Try either paint stripper or lighter fluid if you have, possibly acetone also.

Ah yes' the mighty acetone...that should do it. I have some in my shop box. I was going to say the green stuff reminded me of super glue. Thanks

I used acetone on my clutch cover gasket last year when I installed a new cover and it worked very well. Used a single edge razor blade to scrape most of the gasket off, then used a rag and liberally dabbed the acetone over the areas with some gasket residue left over and then used the razor blade to gently scrape off the remains.

After 2hrs of scraping I got the gasket clean. New stator, new r/r, new battery installed and still no charging at all. Runs on battery fine until it dies. I'm starting to not like this pos. These mf'ers cost some bucks to keep going compared to a car. And I'm doing all the labor myself. Tires, chain, sprockets, stator, r/r, battery, brake pads fluid change, all in first 23k miles. Its sitting there not even road worthy. Haven't even checked the valves yet. IT'S A MONEY PITT.:grumpy:

Now hold on big guy, it is a very simple system and some little thing must have been over looked. No need to get angry with the bike. We are here for you both. Can you give us a little more insight to what has happened to this point? Maybe your location?

I know right...I just had a couple brews and cooled off now. I'm in Gettysburg PA. Long story short the battery won't charge after testing and replacing my r/r, stator and battery. All new and still no charging. What is there left between the r/r and battery that could stop volts to the battery? Battery is 12.6v at rest and 12.1v running. Everything else tests in spec.

New Rick's srator and r/r or factory Honda stator with upgraded Honda r/r. Both give the same readings with 12.1v at battery running.

Is there a inline fuse somewhere between the batt an r/r?

break it down to test components

start with a stator output test (not connected to rr), if it passes then output at regulator connections (not yet connected to battery)

double and triple check integrity of your grounds

Stator is 61v at 5krpm. R/r output is 1v at 5krpm. I think my brand new r/r is a dud.

    Hey there buddy,
I had the same problem with my 2002 VFR VTEC. My connector between the stator and voltage R/R was fried. I first ordered the stator and R/R after buying a new battery. I thought everything was good, but the bike died on me shortly after taking it for a little ride. What you need to do first is test the stator at the connector. If those readings are correct, then it is most like a faulty R/R. The only way to test it is by doing a diode check on the R/R. Do a search on youtube for testing the stator and R/R. I would not be surprised if the R/R is the cause of your problem. I hope this helps.
