Having seen Bazs crash it shows the way that rider protection has progressed in 40 yrs, Barry Sheene had a blow out at 170 and that messed him right up, Baz just gets up and walks away to find another bike

Something we should all be grateful for, whether you chose to wear it or not, at least we have the opportunity to have MotoGP level protection, even the "air suits" were on sale at the Bike Show at the NEC

The tech in the air suits is amazing. How much were they charging for them?

I never checked but I'm pretty sure they were about £2,000, they were selling lots of speedway type neck and chest units that you put a lanyard on for less than £200 ($300 approx), I saw a lot of people walking around with them including 2 police riders who had bought them out of their own pocket but intended using them whilst on duty, that really made me think about getting one

PJ Jacobsen confirmed at Ten Kate Honda for the 2016 WSS Championship.......alongside that other American guy on the Ten Kate Superbike.....The guy definitely deserves it. He earned it.

Source for the speeedway neck and chest units? Lanyards or dead man ignition cut outs have been used for awhile on speedway bikes. Same? Different? Been away from speedway for a long time so I'm rusty.

    Are the protective units inflatable?

Are air bags next? Oh My... This could bring on a whole new micro industry in bike back rests. In racing if those Michelin Man suits become SOP I can see the competitors sending in Ninjas to swap gas sources from air to helium and the suits having ads printed on them.

As one added note that tire failure could be attributed to a valve stem failure.

Yes they inflate like air bags, I think Alpine Stars came out with them first and have been used in GP for a while now. Saved quite a few asses.

Seeing the tech in the Alpine GP suits with computers working extremely fast detecting the crash before you hit the pavement I wonder how these commercial ones work. They inflate when you hit?

They either have movement sensors or lanyards, many of the MotoGP ones have a gyroscope in the hump of the leathers

The soft Bridgestone tires were used for race distance during 2015.

    As an example... http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2015/06/01/bridgestone-review-italiangp-tyre-choices/177211

Gracias! Speedway is to be found here mostly on the West Coast or the occasional demo at vintage race meets. Kind of too bad. Great racing.. I saw the great Ivan Major once in Houston on a modified speedway (grass tracker) (fuzzy) 125 cc Yamaha two stoke twin.. The bike as I recall was turning 18k rpm.. Rode a JAP around the half mile at the SoCal Ascot once. The bike was owned by now RIP Neil Keen.

Nothing like 60hp in a bicycle, a one speed tranny and no brakes wot!

Yes unless some attempt a quantifying soft medium hard and all things in between as opposed to poll qualifying tires which may or may not have been being tested that day.

You don't fucking know any more than even SOW about what really goes on at those meets and practice sessions.

    Nice try.. LOL

Of course not, only because you said so, how many days have you spent on pitlane at a MotoGP Test or race? Exactly. Go back to your vintage racing CB360 races where you can pretend to know anything about what you are looking at and commenting about, my guess is you know quite a bit about the 70's....the last time you were relevent.

And you said you were the greatest troll on VFRW, pffffft.

Thanks for confirming what most know to be true. So are you a member of Groupies.com ? Do you hang around the men's rooms in the pits hoping for a treasure or a speed secret between exertions?

Never raced or had a 360. I rode a friends 360 Husky a time or two. The early Hondas were a bit small for me. I'm a constant 6'1 and give or take around 200 lbs. I will guess that you meant the Honda 165s that are popular at the Pacific and Portland International Raceways or perhaps the Honda GP125s. Nope, too big for those.

Once again I do not post on VFRW. Nice try.. This is a technique used by Hitler's PR dude, Joseph Goebbels. Say anything enough times with enough frequency and someone will believe it. A later version more relevant to todays world is the "We are peaceful" schtick any time some poor SOB gets his head whacked off or some brainwashed kid straps on a vest with a couple of Keys of C4 an pulls the pin in a crowd.

The 70's were great. I was working my ass off getting a Masters at Rice University in Houston and working at NASA Houston and missed a lot of the action. Got some action in the military too. You?

    I think Brownie fits best..

Good that you dropped the tires argument before you got in too deep.
