I'm also in the habit of checking pressures weekly. But I just position the valve where I need it for the gauge. Should have been giving it a 360° look. But that plaque on my wall will not let me get below the wear indicators ever again.

The same thing happened to me when I pulled my VTR down. It was missing the rear rod bearing shells and I suspected that the PO had removed them (for inspection perhaps) and just never put them back. He sold the bike as a non-running project but never said why. I bought it from the guy that got the project running but found that it made one hell of a racket. There is no telling what horrible things people do to their bikes.

Was the pavement hot and were your traveling at a rapid rate of speed? I have seen that combination destroy a marginal tire in short order.

A guy on the other forum says he pulled 118 HP and 62 ft./lbs. of torque out of his 6th Gen engine with "nothing new other than valves and springs. intake was opened up wroth [sic] a little Dremel action. Timing was adjusted." And that the torque was mostly at the low-end and diminished as the RPMs increased. I asked to see the dyno chart. Can't wait to see it.

Man, I want me some of that!

Lemme know if you get 118 HP and 62 ft./lbs. of torque down low with only new valves and springs and a dremelled airbox.

Had no idea of that. I sure hope it is not a racial or religious offensive term. If so, I have a lifetime of appologies to deliver.

Looks like a nice curve duck. Smooth linear power is great. A friend had a dyno at his shop, he was trained on it and he told me he could make any bike have big or small numbers and real numbers took correct calibration of all factors. I think it's common for shops that do work on their customers bike to slightly inflate their numbers.

;( No, it's now a Friday thing. I Did show the dude what was what, in that he totally understood what I was thinking, also agreed (IF) the Black Ice shows like it does like the photo, it would be pretty sharp, He also threw out what about the color of the inner hub of the front disc brakes???? Egads!..... but, with the weather being somewhat friendly I did get out and about for a bit. sure felt good, yet makes me want more.

duccman, your dyno result is squarely in my wheelhouse. Nice results!

But I do not believe that a 6th Gen can wring out 118 HP and 62 ft/lbs with just "valves and springs" and a hand-dremeled airbox. Dare I call BS on the guy? Norcalboy, what say you?
