Has anyone fitted LED turn-signal bulbs?

Keep in mind, if you have a "Deluxe" model in the US, or the standard model for the rest of the world, the Turn Signal Relay is incorporated into the self-cancelling relay - you definitely won't find any off-the-shelf flashing relays that would work. I was hesitant to mess with led's & resistors when I cancelled my self-cancelling indicators. I'll stay with the stock bulbs until they burn out, then think about messing with converting to led's.

 

As I mentioned, LED flashers don't work on the 6th gen either. But adding resistors is really easy (and I suck at electrical suff).

 

Hate to mention it, but LEDs don't draw any less power than regular bulbs, because to get the flasher to work you have to add resistors. What do the resistors do? They suck extra power to make LEDs work like regular bulbs. Net result is you have a "cool" mod that makes your signals hard to see and doesn't save any electricity either.

There are some good points made throughout this thread but switching to LED will absolutely draw less power.

However the "savings" will be pretty inconsequential compared to the draw of heated accessories. Saving a fraction of an amp so you can draw 5.

Contact closure time of a cc-8 filament lamp is 0.08 seconds. I think properly tuning the brake light switch would be a much better use of resources to achieve timely activation.

One big reason I changed to LED, the access hole for the front bulbs is inadequate for my hands, which means I need to
remove a side fairing to change a damn bulb, no thanks! So total cost for flasher and LEDs was about $45.

Only thing that I changed was the socket wiring for the rears, so that the signals would light up full intensity, not low

Mine are not as bright as Underoath's, but I paid ~$30 for eight, and they are plenty bright, plus I have 2 spare reds.

 

Try this instead of the heated gear; no drain on electrical system at all!

The cheaper LEDs are not nearly as bright in my experience. If you add an LED-specific flasher unit, you don't need resistors. The only reason for adding resistors is if you keep the original flasher unit, without resistors the flash rate is way too fast.

Why LED's in my 5th gen? Cause I can! I have also got an LED headlight (Cyclops 3800 Lumen H4: http://www.cyclopsadventuresports.com/3800-Lumen-H4-LED-Headlight-bulb-_p_83.html in my VTR, and this is just amazing.
