I all most all ways support the under Dog. The government has done just about anything I wants. I watched WikiLeaks documentary showing USA air Gunships helicoptor's blasting away at Kids. the army covered it up as much as they could, It's obvious the USA Gov is totally Broken and has no morals at all.:helo:

If you actually read any of the stories, you'd know that the ranchers in question have and want NOTHING to do with these yahoos that have holed up in an unmanned federal building. Those guys are nothing but a bunch of nut jobs who really aren't sure what they're "fighting" for and lack the ability to even articulate why they're doing it in the first place. The ranchers and members of the local public have repeatedly said, on record, that they just want these assholes to get out of their town. This will bring nothing but trouble and fuel the fire for some hard-nosed executive actions that will affect us (read: law abiding citizens) one way or another as a whole.

Haha, yeah their interview comments are full of quasi-military posturing. Obviously a bunch of degenerates with a hard-on for guns that were too fat or lazy to join the military.

I say build a wall around them and lock 'em in!

Burns, Oregon, is a solid little town comprised of law-abiding citizens. I am sure they are disgusted by these looneys.

Yea, those were pretty much my thoughts on it too. I understand why someone would want to stand up and have their voice heard when they feel they're being lorded over, but this seems poorly organized and silly IMHO. The ranchers in question are supposed to turn themselves over to the authorities today and they said they planned to. Guess we'll see....

We should all kick in and send in SOW as an emissary from the bike community. Can I write a check for two cents?

When they took over the building it was no longer a protest but a hostile act and they could now be subject to a measured response. This certainly has the potential to end poorly. I am amazed there are not more references to "terrorism" in the articles, certainly in the comment sections though.

But yeah, doing time for a crime then having the Gov say "oops, we should have locked you up for longer. Come back for another 3 years" would suck. I am not aware of any similar instances and that might set a scary precedent for prosecutors to arbitrarily tack on more time after one has served their sentence. Those two ranchers must have pissed off the wrong people.

Glad to see that you've done some homework on this since the additional sentences got the whole thing going from the get-go, According to what is currently in the news nobody seems to know who signed off on it.

The solution would be to avoid another bunch of corpses on both sides might be for POTUS by executive order, to commute those sentences to time served.

Or,....we could send in Donald Trump with a nuke vest and end it all. ;)

Can someone shed some light here? I do know that the news is reporting that some judge did not like the original sentence and bumped it up. What I don't understand, is how did this get back to court. Was the sentence appealed by either the prosecution or the defense?

I don't pretend to be fully aware of the US criminal justice system, but unless one party or the other brings this back to the court, where is it any business of any judge anywhere at any level?

Let's assume someone did appeal an original sentence and it was legally brought back for reconsideration of the sentence. I understand that the convicted parties have accepted new sentence. If they did not, there is an appeal process is there not?

These occupiers are thugs. They put the authorities in a bad position. They have taken possession of an un-occupied federally owned building. The authorities are sworn to uphold the law and remove these people. Many of the public would scream, why use force to remove someone from a building not being occupied or used otherwise? The problem with that is, it would deliver a message that sometimes, under some situation, it is OK to unlawfully take something that is not your because you know the authorities won't do anything.

Block access and freeze or starve them out. Didn't they try that in Wacco? They sure shut that camp down didn't they?

Yes Randy, it was brought back before a judge for an appeal. What I do not understand is why it would be appealed AFTER they have already served their sentence.

The Supreme Court can overturn an Appellate Court's decision so they are not out of legal options yet.

If the militia martyrs themselves do they get 72 cousins in Jannah?

Here in Canuckistan, if they are doing the time while awaiting the appeal process, theoretically, they could finish their original sentence before the appeal is heard, then a judge could increase the sentence and they could go back. But in reality, here in the land of liberalism and soft hearted pansie bleed'n hearts where no one has rights except for the criminal, a judge would never do that.

I was unaware of the appeal in this case. Tkx. MadMapleLeaf. Being in Ottawa, I can see why your handle is appropriate.

I have never been a proponent of capital punishment for many reasons, but I do favour court imposed sterilization as a form of Crime Prevention.

These kind of politics don't belong in a motorcycle forum. Let this play out between the interested parties - there are probably motorcyclists on all sides of this mess. I'm for removing this thread.

    John.

There are hundreds of threads that are not motorcycle related, let alone VFR related. That is why they are posted in the "Anything Goes" section.

Not only do I find VFRW informative for VFR related stuff, I also learn some stuff about other things. Remote control cars is a recent example. So this site is also entertaining while still being informative. That is why I spend probably 100 times more time here that at the other site. This may not be in everyone's interest, but I for one, would be disappointed if the way this site was run changed.

That said, your opinion is as important as anyone else's here.
