    1/5 scale gas RC cars.

I started out with a Nitro Savage X, which was a hoot, but quickly got the itch to go bigger.

    2012-02-06 15.45.47.jpg

Started with one, got another, had it stolen, got another, got the other one back, got another, got a 4WD version, maybe another one in there somewhere?

They are "Baja 5B's" by HPI for the most part. The 4WD is a "5T" from Losi. The Baja has a truck version but I liked the buggy better. I ended up converting one of the buggies to a T to complete my fleet.

They have 22 to 30.5cc 2 stroke Chen Yeung motors. Big motor, unsilenced pipe, LOTS OF BRAAAP

An aftermarket company had a "shorty" chassis kit that took off 2 inches, I decided I could do it better and took off 4.5 inches for the shortest shorty that ever shorted. It was fun to drive.

There is a group here in the Ottawa Valley that used to get together and beat this snot out our rigs but they started to like racing. The racing was fine but the squabbles and rules and egos were not for me. Not long after I gave up on racing (with a 1st place title win I should add) I figured out it was just wrenching and airbrushing the bodies that I really liked. I still paint a few bodies a year for friends and I drive my rigs way too hard at least once per year then spend the rest of it tearing them apart for complete rebuilds.

Also bought a house in there somewhere and my disposable income dropped off significantly. So that was my thing. Now I do home renos and fiddle on my VF500F when I have time.

Always thought those things were pretty cool. A close friend of mine is into Nitro RC boats. He has one that's really just a Super Tigre 40 attached to a boogie board, which I think is pretty cool. Anytime we take his life-size boat to the lake, it's pretty clear that he could care less about it and just wants to play with the little ones. We're all kids on the inside it seems.

Nice. I have crashed SO MANY of those on my Phoenix simulator. I am decent with the acrobatics but cannot bring it back under control for a landing to save its life.

I use a 2 channel electric super cub with water floats. ~30 minutes flight time, super relaxing, dead easy to control. I like to take it camping and fly around at dawn while sipping a bud light lime out on the rocks (the ONLY acceptable time to drink BLL)

Haha ... you should try auto-rotations from a hundred feet up or so. :)

Always considered getting into the model plane flying thing but there was always something else to spend my money on. I can just see myself spending a hell of a lot of money on a plane and nose diving it into the ground. Hell, I tried flying a plane of a computer game. It crashed so hard the house shook and I blew my speakers.

Maybe that is something I might take up this summer when the sawdust in my shop settles and it is too hot to make more.

Planes are not nearly as bad as helicopters .... but you can still spend a small fortune on them.

My daddy used to say, "Don't spend all your money in one place." I can probably crash a couple planes for the cost of one whirly bird.

    Nice, RVFR!!!

Rave ... pretty cool stuff! I was (up until last month) a member of Team Synergy, and Team Compass before that. I've shifted to FPV multi-rotor racing now. :)

    Have you been to IRCHA?

I've only heard of that event, no I haven't. I just do most in my back yard. Truth be known it's harder to fly RC birds than the real deal IMO. I'm now getting the itch to go droning ;)

Nooooooooooooooo ... don't call it a drone! They are multi-rotors! LOL!

Just build the frame for my latest multi-rotor this evening ... I have a lot of soldering to do this weekend. :)

Tomorrow, I'll try to work on the bike instead.

    These are my Multirotors

The first one is the racer for First Person View with video goggles weighing just under 550 grams all up ready to fly with a 5 to 6 min flight time very fast and agile with the cc3d flight controller

The next 2 are for aerial video using a GoPro 3 black edition the first of these two is 520mm diagonally across the motor centers and weighs just on 2 Kilo's ready to fly with a 15 to20 min flight time

the second is 400mm across the motors and the gimbal comes off the frame and can be mounted to any Gpro mount/suction cup for stabilized bike video and weighs 1.540 kg's ready to fly with a 8 to 10 min flight time

    I used to fly Heli's having a T-Rex 450 and a 550 also a 600 nitro but I spent too much time crashing not to mention $$$$$
