Having a discussion here with what Battery plays out to be the best. Seems to me even though a tad more money, the lifePo4 are worth it? or not?

For my application, I am going to stick with AGM batteries.

I don't feel the LifePO4 technology is tested enough yet. For me, its not a price issue, its a QA issue. Not enough sold.

For my motorcycle I am going to use what has been tried and tested and used the most, which is AGM.

However the one gotcha with AGM batteries is you can't let them sit in discharged state for long periods of time. When you do this, something happens internally, and the chemical reaction that occurs that normally produces the juice, doesn't produce as much juice and your battery is technically ruined forever.

I have a lifepro4-it went though one full winter in garage , going on second year and saves about 5 pounds-outstanding powerful battery-get the biggest one you can find.

Purchased my 07 three years ago and the PO had installed a Shorai, don't know how long before I purchased the bike that it had been installed and the PO was deceased when I purchased, so no finding out without going to a medium. The battery has discharged a couple of times over night because I stupidly left my led's on all night, but each time the battery has taken a quick charge (probably not recommended) and I was able to ride right away. Needless to say, I have been very impressed with the Shorai and will replace with the same or similar when the time comes. So there's my two cents for ya.

That looks like a good price for a Lithium, and limited three year warranty is exceptional for a motorcycle battery.
    Thanks for sharing D.

It was actually Long who shared this... I just chimped in lol!
I don't have the exact cost on hand but it was an Amazon deal I got as well. I think it was less $100 for the battery and charger. It scares you when you pick these batteries up, they weigh next to nothing so you feel like you're getting scammed!

Here's a good contribution I can provide though...

I'm going to need to put a new battery in the Sea Doo this spring, think I'll go Lithium with it too. That'll be a few bucks if I go with the rated amp replacement, 32amp hrs.
    Iv'e been "chimped" lol.

Unless it's just an Internet rumor, one of the new battery technologies doesn't mix well when they get wet, ironically water sets them on fire! Might be worth looking into before buying one for the Sea Doo...

What makes you think it would get wet in a Sea Doo? Ha-ha. Thanks, I'll research it before purchaseing.

Has anybody with a Lithium Iron battery experienced the delayed starts, where you have to heat the battery first?

Basically what happened to this guy
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zv3pQxcaP2I

He said he pulled his bike out of a 55f garage and he had to go through that much trouble to get it started?

Mind you, this video was in 2011, so maybe the technology is a little better now?

I don't have any experience with LifePO4 in a motorcycle, but I have used it extensively in radio controlled helicopters - the ones that if stood on end would be as tall you from nose to tail and fly upside down. :)

They are very stable and last well if properly maintained. The characteristics they're known for is the weight / energy ratio, and that they will put out a relatively constant voltage under load.

They will be more stable than a Lithium Polymer (LiPo) in a collision if punctured.

LOL ... we used water with salt in it to help slowly discharge bad packs for disposal (LiFePO4 and LiPo). They do no combust in water. :)

For what its worth, I have had the same "ballistic evo 8" on my VFR for 3 or 4 years now. It gets a little weak in cold weather, but it has never left me stranded and it only weighs a pound or two. I am pretty happy with it.

I have always had starting and cranking issues with the CRF450X if left to sit and in cold weather. Finally tried a Shorai battery and can't say enough good things aboot its performance. Cranks long and hard in cold weather even after sitting for long periods withoot the tender. Smaller and very noticeable weight savings as well.
