Works good, but seems like it needs the rear stand to be perfectly stable.. And I needed someone to hold the bike upright for me.

Nice present. To bad Santa couldn't leave you one of his cute/sexy girl elves to help hold your bike for you:eagerness: maybe next year! One can hope, right?

Yeah, you're supposed to set the bike up on a rear stand first before using a front stand. I use mine with the bike's center stand. A little sketchy but have never had an issue.

I tried it on the centerstand first, it came off and was resting on the rear tire.

Hmm, looks like you need to ask Santa for a rear stand now! Every front stand instruction manual I've seen all say the same thing, "make sure the bike is raised via rear or center stand before using the front stand."

You can try and put a small piece of wood under the center stand to raise it a little higher so the rear tire won't touch. Although it might be a little harder to get the bike up on the center stand.

I'll try that. I really don't want to have to buy the rear stand.

I found the same thing and returned the front stand. For light duty (like removing the front tire), a jack under the oil pan lifts the from wheel nicely.

Heck no.... that pan is so small I was on pins and needles the whole time I had a jack underneath it, praying that a piece of dust didn't settle on it and knock it over. It's really not that bad with just the front Pitbull but I'm definitely getting the rear. Or trying the block of wood underneath underneath the centerstand.

I use the jack under the oil pan in combination with the centers stand, not by itself! LoL!

Still, the pan is too small.

No sir. With a floor jack and a clock of wood between the jack and the pan, it works just fine.

Yeah.... I wouldn't recommend making a habit of using the oil pan as a jack point... Ya know being a thin chunk of aluminum that can warp and all. Give us a call when that paper gasket starts weeping oily tears of pain.

    Get the rear stand.

Be serious... I'm tilting the bike on the centers stand. You can lift it with a couple of fingers. You can all do whatever you like, but I assure you the pressure is far, far less than the bolts (put on the gasket). Having worked on everything imaginable for 45 years, I'm sure it's fine.

I'm being serious. Those bolts are torqued typically to only around 10 ftlbs or less. Paper gaskets are easily crushed, and unlike o-rings they don't rebound back. Not too mention the fact your lifting recommendation is unsafe and a shadetree practice at best. Just because you've been doing something for 45 years does not make it right. If I walked into a shop I took my bike to and found it propped up by the oil pan I would be furious.

If you're absolutely too cheap to get a front stand (they're great by the way since it provides a framework to support unbolted calipers, and the fact with a rear stand the bike is rock solid stable). Find a sturdy overhead cross member in your garage, and run a lifting strap from the triple tree up using a come-along or similar device.

Front stand doesn't work with the center stand. If you knew me, you would know how ridiculous your statements are about cheap and shade tree, but, this is the Internet and I realize insults are how some people communicate. If I could use a front stand, I would. But, I can't, so I make due. Do the same, and keep your insults to yourself.

If you're on a motorcycle forum promoting unsafe bike maintenance practices, I'm going to correct you. If you take that as an insult, well then perhaps you should eschew from recommending nonsense.

For example, if I posted in a thread somewhere along the lines of "...oh yeah, go ahead and use your regular chrome harbor freight sockets with that 105 psi 3/4" impact driver. Impact sockets are overrated" I would EXPECT someone to call me on it.

There is no doubt that a good rear or center lift is needed to pair with the front stand.
