That's the beauty of Craigslist.. few restrictions on what can be posted. Another plus following that line of reasoning is that the more info that is posted, the fewer chances of getting burned or having to talk to some mutt that ain't for real or thinks he invented the great book of sales pitches found in the office of every used car lot worldwide.

OTOH overdone can sometimes be a clue as to veracity. One I can recall is a Kawasaki with aboot 25 pix. This bike was squeaky clean and loaded up with fast guy farkles. The price was less than the headers and can cost. You guys know the rest of the story; the major clue being the text sounded like it was written by SOW or one of his relatives.

According to a WIKI article, The Blackbird went though a shitload of changes and mods over the production years including gaining some weight and an upgrade from carbs to FI. What is kind of funny is that the early models weighed less than shitload of VFR's.

With all the comfort and suspension mods oot there for VFRs and damn near every bike known can it be possible that a better long range seat ect., and suspension might be available for this particular bike?

Yep there are several combos one can make of after market suspension parts. I choose the Ohlins full adjustable for rear and a JDM adjustable front carts/valves and a Corbin Gun fighter seat. Great for long distance. The road bumps and bridge expansion joints just seem to disappear no matter what speeds and it still handles very good.

I just need to figure out how to cure the weaving, tail wagging dog, when the side luggage is on at anything over cruising of 125mph. The wind vortices behind the bike moves the rear around. Suggestions?????????????

I went for Works Performance on the mach 1 91. Gotta stick with Rich for my seats. Bad juju with Corbin a couple of times.

That weaving is kind of a subset of the Kamm Effect. Buying a set of Krauser hard bags for a BMW came with a warning not to exceed 85 mph.. (paraphrasing)

Maybe a tube all the way through the bag or making some that are round? I run soft bags and for longer excursions I have an early version of Giant Loop's carryall. www.giantloop.com. These folks in Bend Or make a shitload of back country and outdoor gear that is badass..

I can also feel the bad handling that goes with top cases too. Wouldn't have one on a bike. Besides that they are ugly.. ;)

That they are. So are the side bags in my mind. That is why I didn't get them when I bought the bike. Then I started taking long trips and the bags I bought used are a Godsend. I imagine I would be just as pleased with the top case. For some reason, your link to Giantloop is not working for me either by clicking on it or typing it into the address tab. Maybe its the mad rush on the net given the time of year.

I don't find the top case affects my handling a whole lot ... I usually have my panniers loaded out too which usually offsets any top heaviness.

It sure is easier to get that front tire up though. :)

When I'm commuting, the top case usually comes off the bike and stays off. Givi Monokey top cases come off with the twist of a key and a push of a button. Just that easy to put away for when it's not in use.

My top case gets used a lot if I'm making a trip into the city to shop. I couldn't imagine not having the option to use it now ... and I hate wearing backpacks while riding.

The bike came with a top box also. It's great on multi week trips, use as a trunk. Plus it has all lights. A little safer. I thought the tb was the problem at first. Then went to Elhart without it, just the side 41l monokey panniers. Yep started to weave around 125. The first time was with stock suspension going to CA. The new suspension hasn't helped in that case., so far. I really haven't looked in to it yet either.

At the track I saw 250km/hr on my scooter with the genuine Honda panniers on and experienced no weave or other handling aberrations.

After reading the ad I don't think he is being arrogant at all - you can see from the pics this bike has been his baby, and he obviously wants 2 things - (1)bike goes to a good home where someone else will treat it right, and (2)some rook doesn't hop on the thing and kill themself leaving him morally (if not legally) responsible.

I would suggest that if I was posting that exact bike in that condition, I may word things similarly...

    Woops! Try here:

I try not to rush unless I am on my way to WalMart then look oot! ;)

My choice if I were to put panniers on the Mach 1 91 would be to adapt the Krausers to the VFR. I have an old style set on the BMW and they are great. SOS on the aerodynamics though as Gray point out. I've looked at hard cases from time to time. Maybe just me, but the latches on many I've seen look cheesy..

Looks like Revzilla is now carrying some of the Giant Loop line.

Sounds like somebody with enough pesos didn't think the guy's ad was all that bad.. Was it one of those old Chinese guys who said, "Money talks and BS walks?"
