Riding home yesterday doing 88 in a 65 shortly after a big sweeping onramp that is a blast to lean off on. Look in the mirrors, see a state police car right behind me.

I have the Comp Werks fender eliminator, so my license plate is between the cans and really cant be seen fully, I pull over a lane and slow down some, I dont know if it was because he was in a hurry, or couldnt run my plates easily, or was just a nice guy, but he just pulls up alongside, looks at me (i have a gold-mirror visor so he cant see my face) and mouths "SLOW DOWN" with a hand movement. So I nod a bunch and he meanders off. Beats the heck out of a ticket!!!

That cop is A-ok by me!

He was probably going to lunch, or going home, and didn't want to the bother....consider yourself a lucky boy!

Of course they aren't. They are just people too. So just like any group of people, there are some that are a$$ holes, and some that are cool. The bad people just get more attention, and have the ability to cause headaches for others -- including other LEOs.

or he may just have said, "ahh, I have done that. He is just having some fun. And isn't a danger to anyone else, seems to be riding with some skill, so why bother?"

He may ride too and know how fun some of those clover-leafs are! Lucky ducky you are.

Did you have a perma-grin after that? LOL

hah yes I did! Only problem is, the most fun thing to do with a permagrin is feed it speed, but I had to be good for a bit, and just thought about the tank bag that I am going to buy with the money I saved in not getting a ticket!!!

(Now THAT is some twisted motorcycle-obsessed logic right there!!!)

He was on his way to Krispy Kreme. The "Hot Doughnut Now Sign" must have been on.

I was in a small group, and we had been doing a buck plus in a couple of places. well, apparently we passed an off duty KSP. Well, a little farther down the road a county sheriff pulls us al over and I thought we were had. But all he did was ask us to slow down and then he let us go. He was pretty cool about it. I'd say that if you acknowledge them, that them with respect and don't run, you find some that'll cut you a break.

Hmmm.....last time I was pulled over on the bike 72 mph, only damn thing on the road @ 10-11 pm. About 25 degrees out, all I wanted to do was get home as fast as possible, because I couldn't feel my legs anymore. Dude had no sense of humor, didn't cut me any kind of slack; first & only ticket ever received on two wheels. Four wheels, well & don't think anyone wants to read that novel, in 20 years I've made sizable donations, all speeding except one inatentative driving(fell asleep, launched my purdy little 03' Yellow LS Sport Cavelier off a drive way embankment w/ the cruise control set @ 65mph).

Generally speaking, pulling over right away, being cordial & admitting you where @ fault, will win you bonus points. Didn't work so well when I was young but this middle age thing is good for something I guess.

I have many LEO friends and one of their pet peeves are people who aren't willing to take responsibility for what they have done or don't have the knowledge of what they have done wrong.

Think about how many people they deal with in a day who try playing dumb or get defensive. I promise that you stand a better chance of getting a break if you go ahead and fess up and be a man, if you want to play dumb they will educate you.

I was in a similar situation Tuesday: came around a corner doing 65+ (limit is 55) and there's a Sheriff's truck sitting on the side of the road. He waved for me to slow down and that was it.
