Just wanted to share a few thoughts with my new friends....

I bought this bike on July 11, 2007. Suspicious thoughts and some joy followed when I realized that if I were still married (divorced for 12 years now), it would have been my 23rd wedding anniversary. Not planned by any means, but still kinda cool none the less, don't ya think.

I have had a very hard time time not NOT being on this bike. It's allure is intoxicating. She's got a Zero Gravity Double Bubble, and a Micron high mount, and other than the Heli Bars which I swapped back to stock, that's it for mods. Fine by me.

Anyway, to the point: I really dig the bike. Sweet ergos for me (6'2" 200lbs with long arms and legs) and with the Heli's gone, just about perfect. The motor is great in town or the highway, but I find it near impossible to be anywhere near the posted speed limits. It's the cut and thrust moves that call me to duty and honor, and I accept ALL missions!!! I haven't gona ape chit yet, cause I'm old and wise and want to get used the bike more, but I know there's gonna be a LEO meet and greet before I part ways with this bike.

For reference, I've owned only one similar bike before,a 2002 Triumph Sprint ST which was a most righteous ride as well, but other than a bit more low end thrust, the VFR is better all arounder, and more refined in feel and fit and finish. With the Trumpet as the one and only exception, all my other bikes have been Hondas, and it feels good to have two RIDERS bikes in the garage now. The Valk is staying put because I need a big SportBarge for long trips and the occassional blonde pillion, who seems to prefer the added arse space, back rest and the tunes!!! If she ever gets on the VFR with me, I plan to be only so respectable, but she's pretty fearless anyway. Generally, I don't dig passengers. But for dating someone you'd rather not converse with, motorcycles are indispensible.

To end this ramble with the dignity that this site seems to exude, I'll say it's been so far, one of the top 3 motor purchases of my 50 year old life. (B'day was July 8, bike a present from me to me...LOL) I've admired the VFR from afar for years, and this one came to be at just the right time and in the right way. I'm closing in on my first 1000 miles, and tonite...yes this very evening, I have set aside ALL other mundane tasks and distractions to finally take one of my locally famous all nite rides to destinations unknown. This ride should firmly cement me in VFR euphoria, and it is with great anticipation that I venture forth.

Now...if after reading all that, you groovy cats and chicks still accept me, I know I've found a good place to hang out, and a great bike to boot!!!

Peace and Balance to all my fellow Mad Dog Warriors of the White Lines

(and as my buds and myself say to each other when parting ways: Ride FAST Take Chances)

    Respectfully,
    brutus

Your 50 and you act like your 20. I think you have found your second wind. Good luck in your rides sound like you are doing alright.

    Brutus,
I can't believe that it took you this long to discover the VFR!! Obviously you like Honda motorcycles by your other bike, and I am suprised that the big Valk did not draw you to another Honda sooner. I do not know about anyone else, but I find it impossible to obey speed limits on most any motorcycle(except maybe a Harley). Congratulations on the purchase!!!

    dlman,

Wish I still had a 20yr old's energy level, but am doing fine for the half century mark. It's the clown voices in the noodle that can be problematic, but an hour (or several) on a motorcycle does wonders to quiet them down to almost nothing. Now when the sidestand is down, all bets are off...

    Thanks for the kind words,
    brutus

I'm 28 and I don't know what took me so long to start riding? I have always loved it. I guess the gas prices drove me to it.

Yes vfrcbr919, it did take a long time, did it not? I actually had a test ride on this very same VFR when it came to my local Honda dealer in trade. This was over two years ago. The finance/sales mgr there took it with him for about 18 months as a work perk, he used dealer plates while he had it. He only put 1500 miles on it, and when I saw it again on thier website, I went for it. I have been achin' for a smaller bike since the Triumph left, and searched for about three weeks before I nailed this one down. As for speed limits, well...I'm not totally nutz cause the LEO's around here are hard to figure. I've gotten breaks when I didn't really deserve it, and got wacked when I thought I should've been let off. Rules of the jungle I s'pose...

As for Harleys and speed limits...I won't go there. I have a attitudes on such matters that I won't pollute this board with.

The Valk plain scares em...which is a good thing.

As you can see, I still need to saddle up and right about now is good timing. The roads that lead to real roads should be clear enough to keep me in balance till I get to where I can let her sing that Vfour song with little or no interuptions.

    Thanks for the reply,
    brut
